When did Viktor become OP?

Was just reading the article "glorious evolution" about Viktor becoming a more popular mid laner on the news portion of this site. It seemed to me Viktor was always pretty inconsistent as a mid laner (it's easy to have a miss with the laser, his W is on a delay etc).

What happened that made Viktor so good all of a sudden? They say his counters got nerfed, but idk if he really had any solid counters.

Viktor is one of the coolest champions in League so glad to see him seeing some play (even if he was cooler before the rework IMO).

May have to try him again. Firin all mah lazorz. Viktor

He's been sleeper OP since his mini-rework a handful of patches ago. IDK what made people suddenly decide to play him, but the power's been there for a while now.

Someone played him and did not rush item 3100 as the first item and found how strong he was. He was played a good bit after the rework, but as I recall a lot of people rushed that item because of the hype over having 1.0 combined AP ratio on an auto attack. That build path seemed pretty weak when I played against it.

He was never OP, he just has a massive damage output

Basically the bigger mana pool from upgrading his Prototype Hex Core has been better than Mana regen (blue buff nerfs, mana regen nerfs) and his wave clear/damage is still good.

Just Reddit crying about how ''OP'' is Vicktor for appearing in the LCS.

Nothing more, he still gets screwed by mobility, is mana hungry and squishy.

Its tipical Reddit knee-jerl reaction to an unused champion being used.

The mana on his core and the ability to take that speed buff without losing damage has removed what were once considered crippling weaknesses from his kit.

He may be weaker now in the early game, but he's got that late-game versatility through Power Transfer speed buffs and, eventually, a stronger Q with more ability power in total.

I agree with you in of that I don't believe that Viktor ever had any real counters amongst the assassins that were nerfed. Assassins were never a problem. Syndras, on the other hand, can be annoying. :P

ever since his rework viktor got better at what he does i wouldnt say hes op or anything at all but since hes been picked in the lcs ppl noticed how good he was so it just kinda happened

I miss all the dot old viktor had in his kit, but then the new vik has better damage. I think it all evens out though because other champs have a damage ability where he has stasis trap. I.E. more damage in full skill rotation, like xerath, syndra, lissandra, and swain.

Tried him today though. He works well. Just needs cdr really badly.

I like playing him for the lazorz and less about whether he fits the meta., but its nice to know he is viable. On the pro gaming circuit everyone was running this 21/0/9 page, but for whatever reason getting the alchemist and biscuit mastery just don't suit my playstyle unless I am support.
