12 MR is not "significant"

If you think this looks like an oddly light nerf to LeBlanc... you're right. The Deceiver will remain on the strong side for patch 8.22. Next patch's preseason changes will indirectly nerf her by giving opposing squishies a way to load into game with significant amounts of magic resist. (Spoilers!)

Riot is at it again, being funny 12 MR is not significant, especially when the LB can pick up 20 AP...

Seriously riot, you need to stop thinking that the defense is as shallow as someone picking up a single defense rune.

Never underestimate the value of early defenses. Mid laners have roughly 35 magic resist level 1 on average. That means incoming magic damage is reduced by 26%. With runes you have 47 magic resist. That means incoming magic damage is reduced by 32%.

With runes you will receive 8.2% less magic damage compared to not using runes.

That's significant.

that is until a mage builds item 3020 item 3916 15+18= 33 flat mr pen. 35-33=2 magic resist. I'm not sure how much it blocks, but 2 magic resist? Not every mage is Vladimir that will build item 3065

2 magic resist blocks roughly 2% of magic damage. If you're interested the equation is 100 / (100 + armor or magic resistance) = percentage of damage received

However, with runes you'd have 14 magic resistance instead of 2, which would decrease magic damage by 13.3%. Comparing those values directly with each other, runes decrease magic damage taken by 10.5% in this scenario.

General tip: 1 Point Resistance equals 1% more effective HP.

To kill someone with 2000HP and 40MR you'll need 2800 Magic DMG. To kill someone with 1400HP and 100MR you'll need 2800 magic DMG.

It's a whole lote easier to grasp when calculating this way. ^^

Not sure if the math is correct, 8% more damage reduction doesn't seem like it equates to 18.9% increase.

You're right, I calculated the increase of negated damage by mistake. The values should be correct now.
