Is Riot seriously going to just leave the ARAM bug alone?

I've been playing a ton of ARAM recently and I'm sure you all know that dashes are currently bugged. Instead of the animation moving towards the target, it plays over in the opposite direction. I've been waiting for Riot to disable the gamemode already because it makes everything extremely confusing and annoying to play. Just a few games ago, there was a Warwick on the enemy team whose Q's launched him backwards--roughly 800 units--but the hitbox was still on the target. This literally made him invisible until the game caught up and made him nearly impossible to play against. Just imagine getting feared/ulted by an invisible unit all game, every fight with no counter-play other than to predict his movements or panic-flash. Actually ridiculous how long this bug has been going on.

I'm not on the teams, but I know there were a number of people investigating this on Thursday/Friday. I don't personally know when it's getting fixed, but I'm assuming there's something in testing. I'll message the teams and try to remember to followup here too.

UPDATE: So talking to folks it seems that there hasn't been a good resolution found for the bug yet, though investigation is going to continue. Around the discussion around disabling snowball, the current decision by the team that owns ARAM has been to leave it enabled given that a number of champs actually rely on it to be playable for the mode. It's a bit of a rock and a hard place, disabling it makes sense from one perspective (it's the bug that everyone can abuse if they take snowball), but disabling it is actually a pretty huge detriment to the rest of the champions on the mode. Ideally we're able to find a fix asap and deploy it - sorry that's all the info I have atm

is there a possibility to have snowball disabled in ARAM for the moment? it really makes certain champions ridiculous as they can just pop-up next to you with no warning

It's not just snowball, it's almost every single dash ability in the game--Warwick Q and snowball are the worst cases I've come across so far though.

yeah but snowball is the worst offender in my opinion since 10 players in the match can have it so if you disable snowball then it would occur far less often

The only problem is that snowball is unique to ARAM and the majority of champions depend on that for engages.

The problem is Riot broke the game.

DISABLE DASHES

NocaNoha4 votes

The best bug-glitch I saw regarding dashes was talon using a snowball to dash to the minion, then jumping over a broken turret.. and then using his ability to jump to one of my teammates

Whole god damn time he was going back and forth! A true glitch in the matrix hahahha

I saw a Warwick who was all over the map on my screen and then you see im ulting a teamate out of no where. I thought something was weird.

Interesting point. So far it slooks like the engineers hadn't found a good fix, but disabling snowball ad the most egregious example seems reasonable. I'll talk to folks and see what they think

Shouldn't the proper procedure be disabling the game mode? There is a problem in the game that's affecting all players in every ARAM game but they are going to let it stay live until a fix is found? I'm not trying to point blame toward you--it's just really confusing that nothing has been done.

I agree. If TP was bugged so that there was no indication people were teleporting and they just appeared, I'm positive TP would either get disabled, or there'd be a hot fix within 1-2 days of it appearing. This doesn't effect SR though, so it's allowed to remain.

It's truly game-breaking. Meanwhile if Yasuo gets a glitch on his chroma, it's instantly fixed

I'm fairly certain there is a comparatively tiny team dedicated to ARAM

Excuse me, but that's an outright false statement from them.

I won't play the "Balance" card here (as it is ARAM after all), but as one with 8240 ARAM matches, I can safely say that Mark/Dash is not vital to any champion to perform. Riven? Volibear? Singed? Warwick? Jarvan IV? Trundle? Play passive, tank up, outscale - and win.

The old Guardian's Horn's active more than made up for any need of a Summoner Spell gap closer, trust me. Combined with Quicksilver Sash and/or Zephyr (for overkill) plus any necessity items of choice (Spirit Visage/Hydra/Cleaver etc.), that was all I ever needed to get close, do damage, and get out - alive!

Except most Rioters and ARAM players disagree with you, so....

Would be boring if everyone agreed on everything. :)

If they don't know how to play with anything else, I can understand it. I played ARAM long before Mark/Dash was invented, and I never missed something like that.

Which is why I refuse to use that ability on anyone. Ignite + Flash, even on Soraka, all day, every day.

I'm sure you know this, but Dash gives anyone a free untargetability. If timed correctly, that simple ability will dodge spells like: Ezreal's ult, Caitlyn's ult, Veigar,'s ult, Lux's ult - and I could go on. Let me put it this way: I don't like cheating. In singleplayer games, sure (console codes, .cfg commands, ASCII and HEX editing), but not here.

And a Dash with:

  • True Damage.
  • Vision and true vision (it does reveal stealthed champs).
  • Granting an engage and escape ability.
  • Non-cancel "bait" (against champs with a lock-on ability - Maokai, Vi, Thresh etc.)
  • Untargetability.
  • ...with the recent bug, invisibility.

...is just too much hax for me.

not saying everyone has to agree, but you can hardly make a case for your argument when most people and data points the other direction. sorry you don't like it, but you can't present your personal anecdotes as some empirical evidence that a well-received addition to the game is somehow ruining it. that's what you don't seem to understand. you're pushing the idea that your personal experiences and beliefs should alter the game for everyone... the real kicker is the actual data completely negates anything you are saying.

For teams that get shafted with z e r o engage, or a full melee team put up against a full ranged team, snowball is quite needed

PaladinNO2 votes

You win some, you lose some - that's the ARAM way.

ARAM matches: 8240 Total 4184 Wins 4056 Defeats

Some games are lost from the get-go, sure, but then you get on the other end of the scale, and no one complains then. I don't mind either way - I'm playing ARAM for the fun. The winning is just a bonus. And Mark/Dash doesn't make it fun at all for me, with the way it's so overloaded.

I have played Jarvan IV, Riven, Vayne and some other melees into compositions like Ziggs, Lux and Jayce (this was long before Mark/Dash existed), and guess what? We won.

We bided our time for 15, long minutes, before we had scaled sufficiently, and steamrolled them in the following 7 minutes. And we had won with better tactical skills - not with some fancy dash anyone can use. And we felt really good about it.

SugeMinPikk2 votes

It is not only snowball. It is all targeted dashes. Test it on Quinn. It's absurd.

  1. There is 1 gameplay interaction that pisses me off very hard ARAM. I don't think it's a bug, but I believe it shouldn't act this way. If you take Hecarim with summoner 32 , dashing after landing the initial throw will cancel hecarim's E (so you land it, start charging but once you dash it cancels breaking his initial on e).

please check Urgot urgot grinder. during execution pull targets are randomly teleported. its not gameplay bug or issue but a visual one, but I think it could be related

They're not gonna disable ARAM, because they know that if they do they're losing probably half of their player base. This meta is garbage on the Rift, most people ignore Twisted Treeline, so they're only left with the Howling Abyss since we don't get RGMs every weekend now. If ARAM is taken away, then a lot of people stop playing until it's fixed which, by what it's sounding like, not even Riot has figured out where the glitch in the matrix is yet. So they take the "bad" option of less than optimal game play over the "worst" option of losing players.

yeah me and a friend plays this lot of arams because its more fun. but this glitch as screwed with our way of play. i cant tell when something coming or when to go in. because this Dash Glitch is throwing me off pretty badly. i keep looking for this to get fixed but so far no. That bug is why I'm taking a break from league as I usually played ARAM and such a bug makes the game into a more horrible mess.

Semaj3xt4h1 votes

I agree that it is annoying but its not unplayable... I play ARAM only and have only played aram/special game modes for like the last 3-4 years. If you get hit by a snow ball just WATCH the person, soon as the move get ready to try and counter play... Its not impossible just takes some getting used to!

I wonder how many of these bugs are inadvertently related to the cursor update. As I have seen a lot of things bugging out since then~

I never really get on here, but I HAD to check this out. Every time I asked people if they saw this bug in game, they didn't seem to know what I was talking about. Hoping this gets taken care of soon, it's SUPER jarring and confusing.
