You just press R, and are unkillable while you dash into the enemy team, doing stupid amounts of damage. doesn't seem right.

Malphite Amumu Maokai Blitzcrank cause game is fine with tankers able to put alot of damage even when their kit is good at tanking while they full ap.

His ratios have repeatedly been gutted to the point where AP Alistar isnt really a thing, and you'd do more damage with a triforce/Titanic Hydra bruiser build.

The nature of his rework made it so that Alistar was oppressive when his ratios were decent, so AP and/or heal-focused Alistar were entirely removed as playstyles.

Serious answer: Because there's nothing wrong with it. There's nothing wrong with allowing alternate playstyles and it doesn't make sense to remove it when other champions can do what it does and do it better or without its drawbacks.

They nerfed AP Alistar pretty hard back in the day when it was stronger. So I don't think Riot likes it and they'd probably nerf it again if it picked up in popularity.
