Riot Nerfs champs when in reality its the items

Remember when that weird Leblanc build with item 3146 was broken? remember release Katarina update?

remember KogMaw ? Thing is. Most of these champs were only nuts because of a core item.

In most cases its either item 3124 or item 3146 that makes champs just nuts. So maybe instead of just gutting champs to unplayability, we nerf the items that are making them broken so that there is a chance that a new build that isnt broken can arise and the champ stays playable.

Curious, I'd like to know how and why you think it is in fact Guinsoo's and Gunblade which are the problem and not necessarily the champions themselves. From what you stated here, you're not supporting your claim with valid data; all you're really saying is "here is my thesis which is right, the end."

Besides, you need to look into the factor about nerfing items. Think of a single item in League of Legends, like item 3285.

Now think about all the champions which benefit from and use this item frequently: Malzahar Nidalee Orianna Ryze Syndra Taliyah Veigar Velkoz Viktor Xerath Ziggs Zoe Heimerdinger Karthus Kassadin Leblanc Lissandra Lux Ahri Anivia Annie AurelionSol Brand Ekko Fizz

This is why Riot normally nerfs the single champion rather than the items itself, because when you nerf an item, you effectively nerf ALL the other champions which regularly use it.

So in reality, when you say to nerf an item like gunblade to nerf Katarina, you're actually telling Riot to nerf Akali Diana Fizz Fiddlesticks Jax Elise Irelia Hecarim Shen as well.

If you nerf items you risk breaking other champs when you could just nerf the champion. Nerfing the champion or the item is irrelevant if the result is the same for said champs.
