Tristana leap should NOT be able to be used while suppressed

Rewt··41 votes·2,320 views

Right now tristana leap will still be used if suppressed. It should be cancelled.

If a ww dives at a trist and hits her with his R it should cancel the leap. Just like it does LITERALLY EVERY OTHER DASH OR LEAP.

You have to stop her mid jump. There is a cast timer that is uninterruptible and hitting her at that point will do nothing.

Not only that, but this goes for mostly every champion with a blink or dash.

Except not a single champion in league has the ridiculous buffer window that tristana does attached to the range that her jump allows.

Ezreal and Galio, off the top of my head, have this.

Urgot can do this, but not so easy to do the window for it is very tiny. I've E'ed out of many a Taliyah knock back by doing this. The guy does have a point though, Trist's window to doo it is fucking huge compared to the others.

Zerenza2 votes

Yeah, pretty much every champion with a dash or blink has the window for it, the faster the dash/blink the harder it is to pull off(Basically how fast does it wind-up). Katarina for example has a VERY short wind-up so 90% of the time you either get Stunned before blinking or blink and then stunned(instead of canceling the CC all together like Ezreal because his blink takes about 1 second to complete and has a long wind-up to boot, where as her's is almost twice as fast with 0 wind-up.)

Rewt1 votes

You can CC galio out of any part of his E.

Ezreal is a weird one. With him it only happens if you hit him on like the last 3 frames that he is there before his E teleports him. (things like Bard Q are an exception because upon striking the target it doesnt give a fuck how far away they are. If it strikes a wall or another target they are getting CCd.)

Trist on the other hand..... There is a solid .25 seconds that if you land CC it does nothing to her.

RenownedWheat421 votes

Nah, if Galio is completing the backward hop during any CC he receives, he'll still charge forward. Unless they patched that out, anyway, but I just did it not even a week ago I think? Not exactly sure on the date.

Ezreal has a channel buffer just like Trist. If grabbed during the actual cast of his E, he'll get pulled forward but still shift away anyway.

Trist is relatively the same.

Rewt1 votes

Maybe Knockups work differently. Ive knocked Galio out of his E charge up with Red Kayne W.

But Trist still hops out of that shit.

All CC is equally affected by cast-time buffering. Or rather, not affected. Cast time generally occurs at the very start of an animation. As a rule of thumb: if the skill is doing what it's supposed to do (Move, shoot, etc.), they're fair game. Anything before that will just fall into the buffer. Often, these windows are so small a person wouldn't reasonably be able to exploit them.

Galio's dash has a long cast time, but you're still talking less than a second.

Actually that's not true. Ezreal has a longer buffer. And kat's leap I believe is the same .25 seconds.

I know this is hard but take care to actually READ.

meh, my bad. TO be fair the only other leap in the game that is as long as tristanas jump is khazix evolved leap. And even that may be shorter. So i'm not sure that the range is really a factor.

Lux R, Zoe R, Amumu Q, Ezreal E, Galio E

Theres numerous champs who cast an ability which doesnt take effect for a few seconds.

Youre literally asking for trist to get buffed so she dodges your ability instead of getting hit by it.

Melledoneus1 votes

Shen's dash can be canceled if you sneeze in its general direction.

Just saying. :)

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

Can you imagine trying to land that 2-pixel hit-box with a perceivable delay (cast time) though?

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

It's not limited to blinks and dashes. This applies to all abilities. If memory servers, Thresh Q is an easy way to demonstrate cast-time buffering.

xelaker1 votes

most champ buffer times are absolutely tiny compared to tris and ez

Pika Fox4 votes

Not how spell priority works in league.

She pressed W before your R landed. Your ult landed before her W cast. Meaning her W must cast, as it completed its cast time. You misstimed your R.

This would only be fixed by making her W instant. In which case, you missed your R anyway.

This is how literally every ability in league works. Its only most evident on champs with long cast delays on their abilities.

Rewt1 votes

I hit her with my ult. I was trapped in place. she leaped away. And im stuck there slashing air. and she was suppressed like 10 miles away. If the Leap goes off during the WW ult it should just cancel the ult and refresh the cooldown.

Pika Fox1 votes

That would make no sense. You used your ult. Its a skillshot. You either hit or you dont, its still on CD. The ult was used.

Rewt1 votes

I hit the ult. While im sitting there slashing her for 2.5 seconds she jumps away in the middle of it because you cant cancel her jump.

Pika Fox1 votes

Because she hit W before you hit her, the cast time finished, you hit her, then the spell procced. Once a cast time finishes, the spell will cast unless the target dies. No exceptions. This is how literally every single ability in the game works.

Again, youd make her W instant to fix this, in which case youd have missed anyway. At least shes suppressed at the end point and taking damage.

Rewt1 votes

again. if her W was instant i wouldnt have missed. Because she leaped in the same direction i leaped. And I had predator and blood scent going. My ult was moving at Mach 10

Pika Fox1 votes

Sucks to be you. Time your abilities better then.

revliledpembroke3 votes

I killed a Tristana in mid-jump with a Karma Q recently.

It's not related, but it was fun

Nuparu2 votes

The CC buffer on her W should just be removed outright.

Pika Fox3 votes

Then her W is instant, meaning you missed anyway, and she is buffed.

Rewt1 votes

The leap is kind of slow compared to a Mach 10 ww ult. If you are coming from the side.... sure. but if you are straight on it would still hit

Nuparu1 votes

Or, since it's a mobility spell, if you interrupt the cast time, it shouldn't go off.

Better.

Pika Fox1 votes

Literally every single ability in the game functions this way. Why would riot change how the game functions at a core level to compensate for lag just for tristana?

Nuparu1 votes

If you put it that way, may as well fix Ezreal while we're at it.

Mobility shouldn't have priority over crowd control. That's my opinion on the matter.

Pika Fox1 votes

.... Again, literally every single ability in the game functions this way. Annie QWER, Lux QWER, Sion QWER, everything.

Karfuss2 votes

This is true for most dashes and blinks in League. The Ezreal/Blitzcrank has existed for years.

Strikes me as spaghetti code. Where the game is tricked into believing that since a dash/blink was used, the champion should rightfully be there despite stun/displacement/suppression but since that also applied, the champion is 'stunned' for the duration of the effect on their new position.

So I don't think there's an easy fix for it without going deep into the League's code and swapping around some priorities, or creating new code altogether. If it was, I don't think Ezreal/Blitzcrank would've existed since both champions were first together in the champ pool.

The difference is that Ezreal is a blink, while Tristana is literally a jump/dash.

I'm perfectly fine with Ezreal being able to mitigate certain CC by blinking, but when a champion just plain dashing/jumping can mitigate CC, it's a whole different story.

Technically it isn't mitigating the CC. Tristana would still be suppressed, just not where she should be.

As for it being a dash, there are so many champions that could be applicable to. Stuns don't stop Riven once she starts her dash animation, they apply during and after.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the frustration. It's annoying as hell. Especially as someone who played Malzahar for a time, just to have them dash/blink out of range of the ult beam because unfortunate timing. But I do think that if there was an easy fix, it would've been done a long time ago, I was just using one of the oldest examples of it.

Vekkna2 votes

If someone lands a displace on WW, it should actually displace him like it does every other champ.

See how easy this is?

Rewt2 votes

it does. you can CC ww out of suppression

Lolman9782 votes

Think about it Why worry about Tristana hopping away from Warwick's ult When half the time it misses

Should have aimed 1 more half-pixel to the left. XD

Supreme Senpai691 votes

Does it not? I've Vi Q'd her out of her W

xelaker2 votes

you have to hit her after a small window at the start of the jump. once she's airborne she's free game for hard cc, but most of the time you are trying to keep her in her first locale

Supreme Senpai691 votes

So basically use it before she jumps and it'll affect her (Well, duh.) Or use it right as she jumps and you knock her out of it. But once she jumps, she's jumping. If she jumps and you aim your CC at her, you're the dummy. I don't see why it's an issue, considering it's the same with Ezreal (though I don't think you can even knock Ezreal out of his since it's a blink.)

Trist is too safe with her W reset and ult but the jump dodging CC is kind of just how it works and not specific to Tristana

xelaker1 votes

no. she has a short channel at the start of her jump. she is cc immune during this channel. once she is jumping she is free game.

it's "specific" to 2 champs ez and tris...

Supreme Senpai691 votes

But wouldn't removing that channel basically just make her jump instant? And not really be a nerf to her?

xelaker1 votes

people want the cc immunity removed not the channel
