Skill level discrepancies in flex queue

I try not to take flex too seriously, as I only play it when I have multiple friends online and we want something a bit more competitive than normals. However, it's getting a bit wearisome to see a diamond and 3 plats on the other team, when my team is 3 low silvers and two low golds. I don't see how that's a balanced MMR. Is that the sacrifice that has to be made to find games quickly? It is just a bummer to get pub stomped in 18 minutes by players that are clearly significantly better than us across the board.

My solo queue is gold 5 right now and my games are constantly full of high golds/plats and even some diamonds. My Flex queue is Silver 2 right now and my games are full of all golds. It seems to me like this season either everyone is way lower than they should be, or just haven't climbed back to their original spots yet.

Matching this season has been really wack. Pants are Dragon, a challenger NA jungler, had a gold 4 player in his game once. Riot logic "Gold vs challenger, seems fair enough"

You mean former diamonds and Plats or are they currently at that ranking? There's a large difference between someone who used to have it and someone who has it currently.

It's a different MMR though... you're basing everyone's level on their solo queue rank but flex was designed to be played as more team play oriented than solo queue. It's not meant to be played like a solo queue game because you're supposed to be with a group of people who can coordinate and communicate better than one can in a solo queue game. Now that doesn't mean that it's always played like that ... I myself queue up in flex by myself, and yeah I've played with people way above my skill level and also against those people so I mean yeah it sucks to have to lose to what seems like unfair odds but on the bright side, playing vs higher level players will help you become a better player overall
