What is the plan for Azir?

I feel like Azir has been forgotten. He was released, everyone said he was garbage for a while, and then after some gameplay and bug fixes (which are still on going... feel like they are never going to fix them all) where he finally became playable he got an immediate nerf. First he was a late game champ, then they said his early game was too weak.

So, what is the long term plan for Azir? Where is he supposed to fit into the game? Has he been forgotten after the release of kalista and upcoming release of rek'sai?

I would play him if his ult was reliable.

He's a hypercarry, but I guess Rito thought he was too hypercarry-ish.

Makes sense. He is like an apc version of an adc. Except why nerf his main damage source then? It's like cutting the innate damage on caitlyn to pump her skill shot.

True, but also consider that in practice during teamfights, every AA, he does 90% of his AP+base damage to at least one person, probably more. He gets all the sustained damage of Vayne with the AoE of Orianna/Syndra. Before the nerf, he did 105%. The nerf was just to keep him from getting too insane.

Why they'd buff his early game in exchange though... I can only imagine it's to prevent him from feeding/getting fed, but he really is an ADC by proxy.

Looks like he has already been forgotten. I mean it isn't the first time. You remember Skarner's rework? Didn't take them long to forget about Skarner. Surprised they remember Gnar with as fast as they have suddenly been pooping out new champions rather suddenly when so many more need to be fixed...like Azir.
