personal experience getting out of b5

I'm currently b2 with 70ish lp thinking silver is within reach b4 season end depending on when that is idk. Irelia main seems to be working out smashingly. I took a long break from lol and been back about a month now. when i came back i was b5 and having no luck getting anywhere. Then one day i had a game with a plat smurf and we won. he took a shine to me because he said i did what he was asking ppl to do. so he added me and we went duo q all the way to b3 that day with no losses. After that i took myself solo to where i'm at now. I wont discount the likelyhood that i am probably much better now then when i was initialy stuck in b5 but i also will say that i can't help but think that there is something to be said for elo hell. I've heard all the arguements to the contrary but i am living proof that getting a small boost out of b5 helped me undenyably. If you are someone who doesn't put all your faults on your team and are actually doing fairly well on your own i highly recomend trying to find a way to get some help from a skilled duo partner if for nothing else just to get to b3. you will at least have a decent chance of going even further from there. As is with everything maybe i'm just an exception or i'm wrong entirely but i thought i would make this post for what it's worth. Feel free to add me if you want i'm allways down to play with anyone win or lose i allways just play for fun/to get better!

Hmmm I think "elo hell" has a base intertia and it requires some sort of push to start a person improving so that they move up. For example I was in B5 last season and couldn't seem to do much. The push that I got was self gained though, I played normals for a while and worked on my skills in a system that has less pressure on people and allows for MMR gains in a kinder way. I started to learn about League strategy and such as well. For me that was enough of a boost to then start the climb up through Bronze tiers.

I think the thing that causes players to get stuck is that they develop bad habits from playing with low level players. It's hard to improve yourself when everyone around you is either at the same level or worse than you because you don't see any examples of how it's supposed to be done. My guess is that for you you playing with that plat player helped you to see what you could be like and that helped.

The other side to consider is mental fortitude. Something I've noticed about higher elo players I've played with is that they don't tilt as easily as low level players. Even if the game isn't playing out great they still keep their stuff together and look for an opportunity to make a cool play to come back. You can never count them out of the game, even down 6 kills they're still formidable. I found after working to take on this mindset I've been winning more games. And now that 4 man gank mid doesn't make me play bad for the rest of the game. So my guess is playing with him transfered some of this to you and that confidence is helping you to play to the best of your ability at all points.

So TLDR; climbing your way out of Bronze 5 can be impossible if you can't find a way to get a good start

agreed, i actually just won a game where i was 0/6 starting out. made the best of it and won anyway. although our jungle nearly succeded at demoralizing us into a surrender.

I loathe you people, honestly. Thanks for EFFING up the matches for the other players, garbage. You not only helped cheat your teammates out of actually improving, you contributed to a crap game experience for the other team. ALL the other teams you duo'd for AND against. How many people was that? Get out of my solo queue, trash. Gnar

so you got carried by someone else much better than the rest of your division?

More like: Plat smurf realised his potential and decided to que together with him to help him improve. This is proper type of behavior for a person that wants to improve.
