AP Fighters Are Missing an Item

AP Fighters are a small class for sure, but it seems as if they always build full AP excluding Singed and a guess Galio if you count him. The rest build full AP and are usually for the most part unbalanced for most of their life. I think it is because AP Fighters are missing one type of item that is crucial for them to be healthy and viable. IMO that item needs to include Health, Cooldown Reduction, Ability Power, and Percent Magic Penetration.

I personally think it needs to work sort of like Black Cleaver, but only Magic Penetration not Magic Resist Shred. If it was too strong on mages which I don't think it would be because it would have like 40-50 AP or so it could get changed to a melee only item. Liandry's is stronger on mages then AP Fighters because it has a good amount of AP and it works well with Magic Penetration which is not fun to build on AP Fighters because it gives no health and no cooldown reduction.

Do you guys think an item like this could work? Or at least that AP Fighters need some sort of item because they have some awful build paths unless they go full AP?

item 3151 gives 300 hp

and it increases damage over time the longer you fight and then has a passive that increases damage and does % hp damage as well

It is way better on mages. 300 health is nothing now that many mage items give health and because mages can obtain item 3135 without it being a huge hindrance to their build it is just better because it will do more damage because they have percent penetration also.

what do you consider Rumble its his primary item

Rumble is this weird melee mage that uses zhonyas to keep himself alive while he burns everything. He builds pure penetration and is only really a fighter during lane phase his playstyle after that is super specific as choke point decimater. He truly doesn't fit a proper category after laning phase. He is also only 1 champion and he builds full damage no true defense items.

Ap fighters are missing SEVERAL items. They have no Black cleaver, no triforce, no steraks and no titanic.

All of these items get stronger and more relevant as the game goes on PASSIVELY. They all give damage and tankiness. They all give benefits that AP fighter don't just have, which is why even those champions that CAN choose between AP and AD will always choose AD on the basis of these items.

That is a item 3057 item it doesn't directly compare with the stats of item 3078. item 3100 purpose is for burst not for a sustained fight like item 3078.

True they are missing more than one item, but many AP items give offensive and defensive attributes like many give health and zhonya's gives amer and adyssal would be amazing on them. Idk I think the most important item they are missing is the black cleaver equivalent.

These are all good items, don't get me wrong, but NOT for an AP fighter. Look at what AD fighters build:

First item 3071 or item 3078 Then item 3748 or item 3053 Then either the item they missed from the last buy, or tank.

All of those items scale naturally with either levels or tanky stats, meaning AD fighters, juggernauts and bruisers can all build tank at some point and still have scaling into the late game for free.

AP items on the other have give what they give. Those that DO scale, scale off more AP, meaning full AP builds the only really viable way to go. Also all AP abilities and items scaling are equalized to AD on the basis of you buying item 3089, meaning if you don't buy it, you don't equalize.

Add all of this to the face that there is a BASE AD and no BASE AP and you can see why AP itemization is naturally inferior to AD.

It could work if it forced you to stay within close range of an enemy champion (so that normal mages couldn't take it). Or if it was made melee only.

That would be the problem, making sure regular mages do not abuse it.

The issue here is absolutely everyone would buy that item, even Mages. Even if it gave crap AP, if the Magic Pen was decent Mages would still build it.

There's also the issue of "Hey, I'm a Tank. I have AP Ratios. I want Health and CDR. I actually have decent base damage on my magic abilities. Let me just... pick this up and immediately become a damage threat."

tell me, how are you going to make an AP "fighter" item that isn't going to be used by every single other AP champion in the game?

It is drastically lower in ability power and I would like it to be similar to Black Cleaver. Make the item do penetration based off off unique ability casts up to 4 stacks so mages one combo would get to the 4th stack but not apply it on any abilities so their last ability would only have about 20% pen. Alot of mages rely on burst not sustained damage so I really think the only time they would use it or think about using it is against like 3 tank comps
