Why does Blitzcrank's ult still silence?

With Kassadin's Q now just canceling channels rather than silencing, why does Blitz still have the silence on his ult? It's unnecessary and really has nothing to do with his kit, and would achieve the same function as blitz's ult does now. Unless there's a particular reason he needs a 0.5 second stun on his ult, why hasn't is been switched to just cancelling channels?

Because he is a CC bot. He pulls, he knocks up, he silences. Its what he does.

Silences were removed from mobile assassins. Blitzcrank is primarily a CC tank or a fighter.

Because it's part of his lock down combo. He hooks, he knocks up, and then he silences. Its a small silence, but he needs it to make sure people stay where they are.

Kass lost his silence because it was a ranged mini-nuke, same reason why LB lost hers.

What would be the point of silence if you're gonna pull them first? Pull will interrupt channel anyway.

Because either he ran into your team to silence everyone (and then die) or he got a successful grab and he will only hit one priority target with it. If he gets a grab, as much as I hate him, he deserves to lock his victim down
