I prefer assassin Ahri

Why was Ahri changed to this again? Assassin Ahri was given incentive to land charm. She should be rewarded for landing it and the enemy should be rewarded for dodging it. Now you can mindless go in with Ahri, doesn't matter if your charm hits. Your W and R will autolock onto enemies anyway. I really like Ahri's design but I feel like a chump once I realize I don't even have to really aim anything to kill someone.

I agree with what you're saying and additionally I'm also bothered by the way Riot handled Ahri as a whole.

For compensating the loss of DFG, they nerfed her damage potential, not once, but twice AND decreased the range of her spells. All this despite the fact that Riot Jag came here onto these boards and publicly promised us that Riot would not non-nonchalantly make range changes to champions as it is "highly disruptive" to their kits and the people who play those champs. Yet that's EXACTLY what they did to: Sona, Tristana, Ahri, Akali, Kassadin, Elise

Hell, Sona had 6 or 7 separate range nerfs to herself alone, 2 or 3 of them made in secret.

As far as damage is concerned, it never mattered if your Charm hit or not. The entire kit has always relied on landing both parts of Q, the manner didn't really matter. With DFG being a thing, landing a Charm merely guaranteed that you could keep them in one spot without having to spend more than one ult charge offensively.

Good players didn't open with it so half the damage amp was wasted anyway. Charm has always been a better spell to use when you needed crowd control than when you needed damage.

Too bad she was ALWAYS meant to be a mage :P

I do too. I can still one shot with R+W+ignite, but now I have to be super fed.

the main difference between mages (for instance annie) and assassins (for instance, dunno, lb) it's their mobility which allows them to target/chase one specific victim since ahri still has her ult she is still a kind of assassin though she has more utility and poke than an ordinary one

all those damage amplifiers on charm, dfg etc are irrelevant here

Damage from an Ahri that never presses E did not change at all with the rework.

The original reason they added the charm amp was so that they could nerf the W and R damage to the current levels. Now they've found a way to make her balanced without the amp effect or W/R buffs. Seems like a good result to me.
