Counterplay to Zed?

So, what is the intended counterplay to Zed with EoN for AP champions (mages)? It used to be that you could predict where he appeared after his ult and cc him, so that you got at least some chances to survive and trade. Now you have to land 2 abilities, first of which being wasted and the second one being hard cc, which roughly takes the same time as for him to do his combo, so it is already useless at that point. Then he has MR from EoN, so you can't kill him, especially with half your kit left. I can only think of . Or well, I can just spread my buttcheeks and enjoy being raped. Is it intended that he has an easier time assassinating than before?

You counter play by staying out of Ult range. He'll have to Flash or Shadow to gap close, wasting a good amount of his damage.

Also, buy 1 Zhonya and your safe (not even expensive).

Don't see what the problem is.

Big counterplays that I've seen.

Don't let him hit 6.
Make sure he's dumb and bad so he misses all his skill shots.
Exhaust him when he ults.

With Lethality is the way it is, I'm not sure how big of a counter Zhonya's is anymore. It's probably still better than nothing, but he shaves 25% of it right off the bat when he buys Serrated Dirk.

Buy Zhonyas or take exhaust. Or both to make him extra useless.

Or you could just play Leblanc Lissandra Katarina Kayle and destroy him

Rush a Zhonyas and accept the fact that you'll be forced to miss farm. The same shit ranged champions force almost every other melee champion to do--build defensive and give up farm to avoid unnecessary damage. It's good to see you all have a taste of your own medicine once in a while, really.
