with new morellecon nerds guess which caster will not buy tear now?

lets start with Athenes. The problem with Athenes is that its LESS AP THEN A ROD AT 1000 MORE GOLD. need i say more? Orianna is the only caster I would get this on cause she's so mana spendy, but the drop in her DPS is so great early/midgame with this item i really don't think its worth it, unless you have a lot of dmg on your team and your just looking to utility.

Morellicon: the nice thing about this item was that it was always cheap, with griveous wounds and lots of AP, with the increase in cost it really not that efficient anymore

The solution, Tear of Goddes.s Seriously why would you not buy this item? Even with casters that are not so spam happy (it will still stack, and the extra mana/mana region will make up for the increase of costs from the other items (remember when chalice was 540gold (okay season 1, maybe i went back a little too far). But the extra mana means your better in team fights and after back as well as being able to stay in lane better. NOT TO MENTION THE SHIELD (which is so godly underrated). Mor is only the better option in cases with built in sustain (or morde) such as alkali, (ahri doesn't count) swain, ryze (questionable whether mor is worth it).

so here it is, until they nerf tear name a champ you would buy athene or more over tear/seraphs. IDK maybe swain? (but again I'm thinking nahhhhhhh). I'm thinking maybe the new meta is even say to hell with mgen and blue buff or lose.

Because the tear takes too long to charge and is counter-productive to the strengths of a mage.

A mage is supposed to have decent early game and powerful mid game. Having a tear means you have a decent early game, average mid game and slightly above average late game (that is heavily out classed by any ADC).

Do you see the issue here?

Before the mana regen nerfs it was.

decent early game -> Strong mid game ->Average late game

This movement no longer is true.

Being able to spam your abilities should come at the cost of no longer being bursty.

how does a tear take away from your midgame? its 720g, a little more than a dorans ring, so you can rush a rod right after that which =more ap than an athenes

tear gives very low regen itself and it puts you at a 720g deficit on every item you buy until you finish your seraphs. it also doesnt give any CDR which is core on most mages, including orianna.
