Taric - The Gem Knight

With so many champion reworks for everyone's favorite Gem Knight, what could one more hurt? I just felt that it'd be a nice change to at least take a crack at it, but of course I'm aware that the proposed kit will have its flaws. I am also aware he is already slated for a rework and I am extremely excited! This is why I encourage and beg of you viewers to point out your questions and concerns in the comments below!

Before you read further, I just want to point out that I main Taric as he is and I LOVE who he is! Level 5 mastery and proud! I just felt it'd be fun to take a crack at a possible rework for him. Stay outrageous my friends.

Without further ado, here he is:

[New] Passive)

Gemcraft: Every four basic attacks on an enemy champion, Taric creates a shard of Gemstone, which work toward building shards for his ultimate. In addition, upon executing the fourth strike, Taric's gem-infused armor releases a cleansing shine aura just as it manifests the shard, which grants +15%(+5% per level) base Health Regeneration to all ally champions within a range of 1150 for 15 seconds and reduces Taric's Cooldowns by 1.

[New] Q= Imbue/Excommunicate Cost: 70/80/90/100/110 mana Range: 800

Imbue: Taric projects ancient power into the very soul of his ally, imbuing them with not only strength, but good health as well. Upon casting this ability on an ally unit, they will receive 100/130/170/210/250(+30% Bonus AP)(+10% Bonus Health) health and have their armor increased by 10/15/20/25/30.

Upon casting this ability on himself, Taric will only recover 100/120/140/160/180(+45% Bonus AP)(+10% Bonus Health) health, but his next basic attack will deal 20/30/40/50/60% of armor as physical damage and ignore 3/6/9/12/15% of the victim's armor.

Upon casting Imbue upon an enemy champion, they will instead be Excommunicated.

Excommunicate: Taric damns the enemy and forbids aid from any outside source, applying Grievous Wounds for 3 seconds and sapping 30/55/80/90/100(+5% of victim's Bonus Health) health from any champion who attempts to heal the Excommunicated(be it via items, summoner spell, abilities). In addition, whoever attempted to heal the Excommunicated will become Excommunicated themself, without the Grievous Wounds.

Cooldown: 15/14/13/12/11 seconds.

[New] W= Shatter Cost: 30/40/50/60/70 mana Range: 500(Activation)/750(Aura) unit radius

Aura: Taric and all nearby allied champions gain 12% of his total armor as bonus armor. If Taric's gemstones are shattered then all allies within range will receive 5% Armor Penetration towards their basic attacks instead of armor.

Passive: Taric receives 1/2/3/4/5% reduced overall damage while under the protection of his gemstones. This reduced damage is lost upon Shatter's Cooldown.

Active: Taric shatters his gemstones, reducing his own armor by 6/12/18/24/30 for the duration, but dealing 50/90/130/170/210(+20% Armor) magic damage to all enemies within range and slowing each one hit by 40/45/50/55/60%! In addition, Taric moves 10/15/20/25/30% faster without his heavy gemstones!

Cooldown: 10 seconds.

[New] E= Dazzle Cost: 75/80/85/90/95 Range: 70 Degree cone, 600 range.

Taric slams his shield into the ground, stunning all enemies within the (about)250/600 range and blinding any champions 251 units and farther within range. In addition, the closer enemies are to the initial cast, the more magic damage they take. For instance, enemies will take 10/30/50/70/90(+20% AP)(+15% armor)(+10/20/30/40/50 magic damage for every 100 units closer to initial cast, up to a cap of 150 bonus magic damage) magic damage. This means that, at point blank range, enemies will take a flat 210 magic damage at max rank.

Cooldown: 10(flat, cannot be affected by CDR)

[New] R= Gemini Tactic Cost: N/A Range: 1000 unit cast radius/Varies

Every time Taric gathers four shards from his passive, he can create a Gem Sigil. With FIVE different Gem Sigils to choose from(Ruby, Emerald, Opal, Sapphire, and Blight), Taric can(potentially) create them all, but he must cycle through them to decide which one is best in the moment. Now for their functions!

Ruby(for vigor): Taric erects a massive crimson gem overhead, granting vigorous strength and fervor to all allies within an 800 unit radius. This gem lasts infinitely, but can be destroyed by enemies(only) with a mere 3 hits! All allies within radius will receive 25/30/35% increased Attack Speed and 40% increased Movement Speed while under the affects of this Gem Sigil!

Emerald(for insight): Taric slams a verdant gem into the ground, illuminating the area(600 unit radius) around it and pretty much warding the area. Acting as a stealth ward, this Gem Sigil not only grants sight of any invisible units within range, it itself will stealth upon taking damage for 10 seconds, becoming untargetable as it still wards the area. Upon destruction, the Emerald Sigil will scatter up to 4 shards(random) within it an 800 unit radius, each becoming their own vision wards that last for 30 seconds.

Opal(for harmony): Taric raises another large Gem Sigil into the sky! This one is multicolored! All enemies within a 700 unit radius of the Opal Sigil will have their attack speed reduced by 5% while all allies within an 800 unit radius of the Opal Sigil will have base Health Regeneration increased by 100/150/200% while under it. This gem is just like the other and can be easily shattered with a mere 3 hits.

Blight(for corruption): Taric stops whatever he is doing to slowly raise up a corrupted blight crystal Gem Sigil, before finally slamming it into the ground and dealing 50/100/150(+15% AP)(+15% AD) true damage and fearing any enemies caught in the center of the 800 unit radius. In addition, all allies within radius of the explosion will gain +20 Attack Damage and 10% lifesteal.

Sapphire(For Divinity): The only Gem Sigil with a longer Cooldown than the rest. Taric imbues a divine, cool sapphire crystal into his soul, causing his own power to spike to that of a god. In this state, Taric gains immunity to Crowd Control, +20/40/60 Attack Damage, 15/30/45 Ability Power, +15% Critical Strike chance, and +1 true damage on every basic attack...just cuz. Activating this Gem Sigil restricts the use of other ones while Taric is under it's affects and will destroy any already existing Gem Sigils. Use wisely!

Taric can only have TWO(2) Gem Sigils active at a time(unless Sapphire is in play). Sigil do not stack upon one another!

Cooldown Between Each Gem placement: 60 seconds.

While I have you all here, can we just take a moment to appreciate this skin concept for Taric made by The Mute Magician?

Unfortunately, Riot removed this thread from its previous home in the Skins & Champion Concepts section where it had been resting for 3 months, but I'd like to see what you guys out here think of the rework! I'm sure it will most likely be a tougher crowd out here, but please don't hold back!

Yo man, freaking fistbump.

Taric main since Season 3, Level 5 mastery as well. We're a rare breed.

I'm really freaking pumped for his upcoming rework, although a bit worried as well. But we'll see how it goes, comrade!

Anyways, back to your post, here are my thoughts:

  • Passive: Pretty weird to be honest. I feel the extra health regeneration is not needed, considering Taric already boasts a heal. And you more than anyone should know how difficult it is to auto attack someone as Taric early, especially 4 times. I think it should stay similar to what it is now, extra damage and cooldown reduction. Don't know about the gem cycle thing.

  • ** Q:** Pretty freaking genius. Now that Soraka lost her extra armor on heal, it makes sense that Taric can have it. It fits thematically. The grievous wounds idea is out there, but pretty cool. Although I'd really just prefer more power budget given to his passive.

  • W: Right on. Although I don't quite understand why the armor penetration would be an aura. I feel it is much easier to understand as part of the active. Of course, it slows, but that's simply compensation for the lost reliability of Dazzle. Also no reason to not be affected by cooldown reduction.

  • E: I'm an advocate for keeping targeted crowd control. I feel there is a major mobility creep going on and there are less and less ways to counter it. However, this would be a fair replacement. I would lower the range a bit and remove the blind entirely, making it only a stun. Once again no reason to not be affected by cooldown reduction.

  • R: Not really a fan of these. They're creative for sure, but a bit convoluted. It's way too many abilities for one button. I've always seen Taric as a fighter support, not a tank. Although this would be a really interesting thing to see, I would prefer a simple AOE nuke similar to what he has now, but with added utility and more visible buffs. Maybe this could have a blind?

Anyways, nice bro. If something similar to this comes out, I wouldn't be complaining much!
