Paws upon fur, fangs upon runes, Fear thee the tale: "The Beast O' Bel'zhun" Death upon thirst, Life upon bloom, Hear thee the tale: "The Beast O' Bel'zhun" Flee for thy heart, race to my tune, Lest thou be caught by the Beast O' Bel'zhun!
The children, so careless, frolicked at shore, The joy in their hearts so innocent and pure! One boy, so quiet, surrounded by light, Danced among others that fateful young night! Another, so loud, rolled in the sand, Ignorant he was to that clock's ugly hand!
They screamed and they hollered, frantic with glee, That they failed to notice, the Beast upon thee! The first boy, he stood, unable to move, The others, turned fast, right back to Bel'zhun! 'Cept for the second, who fetched him a stick, And rush't the beast, blind, his blood flown so thick!
The first boy, afraid, approached the mad beast, Protectin' the other from becomin' its feast! He embraced the creature, its madness now quelled, He felt the beast's pain, its heart surely swelled! The other boy woke, his blood on the sand, A cruel marking, bore deep, right there his hand!
The children, elated, met quick with the lost, The first boy sat silent, his heart a pale frost! The second, once shaken, told his grand tale, O' the daunting heroics, to which the beast pale'! The first boy grew tired, his chest wrought with weight, And collapsed there, sudden, thus sealing his fate.
When he came to, the boy was a mess, Covered with blood all stained on his dress! The screams of his friends, rung true in his head, The Beast O' Bel'zhun was surely not dead! He weeped and he cried, the fear of his self, Calmed by the hand of the second boy's help!
Tome and scripture, lost upon time, Nothing but rabble, the two boys could find. But then, upon night, a rabbit did show, Sly and sleek, and covered with snow! The rabbit, to the second, presented a choice, "Abandon the beast, and follow my voice!"
Enraged, the boy turned, dismissing the hare, His betrayal delayed, his loyalty bare! But the Beast did not yield, forever it loomed, Midnight O' Midnight, it bloodied Bel'zhun! Time became hours, hours then years, Solid became, the two boys' young fears!
Cursed for life, sobbing, the first boy broke down, The second, unwilling, refused to be bound! He searched and searched, with nothing to show, His mind wandered close, too close to the snow! The second, so tempted, severed the pair, And turned, once more, to meet the white hare!
Days had past, moons had gone, The second, tired, heeded the song! Left without thought, the hare at his back, Never, not once, did the Beast's friend look back! The first boy, betrayed, lay down in his tomb, And embraced his foe: the Beast O' Bel'zhun!
Now thy shall quake, feareth thy name, That fearsome old Beast, the boy did tame! Wolf was his name, the second named Hare, Forever they stand, cursed by despair! Legend has marked them, they wait to this day, For the friend they had lost to the beasts of their fray.
