I dont understand riot sometimes (Akali and Mordekaiser)

As you know, Akali has been impossible to balance since her rework, sitting most of the time at a sub 45% wr. Now when riot reworked Morde, they removed the most toxic part of his old kit, which was his passive. For those of you that don't know, it gave him shielding whenever he dealt damage, and made him unbalancable.

Now in my opinion, Akali's shroud is a similar ability, and she will never be balanced until it is removed. Sure, you could say it's her identity, but Morde's ghosts, and his passive shield were also his identity and riot had no problem scrapping those.

So why did riot not just remove Akali's shroud and give her another ability, maybe something similar to talon's wall hop, so she can escape after killing her target? Did the balance team really think that going untargetable for 7~ seconds in lane was a good idea for an ability(not to mention she's also overloaded with dashes)? The only way this could work is if it was her ult, but it's kind of lame for an ult ability.

I just can't understand why riot insists on keeping this ability.

Agreed, Akali will never be balanced until they do something about her shroud

Mord's identity was lost a long time ago after his first rework.
