Would air be more easily balance able...
If you could target and kill soldiers?
If you could target and kill soldiers?
mustard gas
Oh hell no.
I can see two largely negative outcomes from this idea:
Azir becomes more easily countered and less able to set up his attacks, and he falls out of play
Competent players become agitated when less-competent players fail to disable Azir by killing his soldiers, toxicity ensues.
Although, this does create an interesting parallel with Illaoi, for the following reasons:
Players would have to choose whether to prioritize champions or prioritize Soldiers (like Tentacles)
But, players also have the option to try and wait it out early on to hit Azir during his low-power window
Late game though it sort of becomes irrelevant, because even if Azir's soldiers had health bars, he'd be spawning them in fast enough and playing aggressively enough that the health bars wouldn't necessarily matter, since there's just always two up at a time.
I'm not sure how I should really feel for this - especially since my input is short-sighted and not too well-thought-out, but I don't really think it's a viable option to play with, even if it's an interesting one.

How is it different from heim or illaoi? Or daisy? Anyone that has an ai pet....
It's different from Illaoi in that Azir controls where he places the Soldiers as well as where he moves them - Illaoi's tentacles appear passively and she can only interact with them within range.
It's different from Heimerdinger in that - again, he can move them while they're in play, whereas Heimerdinger has to expend a charge to relocate his turrets.
And it's different from the large majority of AI pets in that, it's not an AI pet, it's a unit that Azir himself controls, and he can create multiples of at a whim. Daisy, the Maiden, etc. Have certain parameters that can be controlled by player input, yes, but they also don't have the restrictions Azir's soldiers have - Ivern can summon Daisy who'll follow him and wreak havoc, Yorick can summon the Maiden who'll either follow Yorick or push the lane, but Azir's Sand Soldiers are stationary unless given input, and they primarily serve as a magic-damage auto-attack extender.
Azir's Sand Soldiers are extremely different from other Champions' pets, and it's pretty easy to see why.
