Sylas Isn't Going To Be Good

Ok so before you downvote me LET ME EXPLAIN. So Sylas the unshackled is coming to league of legends. Now his most memorable ability is his Ult. But if you take a step back from how unique, and how cool it sounds, take a step back and think about if it's actually good or not. Now think of a champions kit, kinda like a nuclear bomb, and the ultimate is the part that causes the explosion, its the main part and it's what the whole thing is centered around, but it needs several other components to go off correctly, just like an ultimate needs backup from other abilities in a kit to back it up. A nuclear bomb needs a launch pad, it needs fuel, its needs protective sheilding, blah blah blah. And ultimate doesnt function as effectivly without other abilities. Lets take a champion like darius for example. His ultimate is good, but the more passive stacks you have on the enemy, the better. Sylas doesn't have Darius passive, he just has ult, so gradually, it doesn't function as well with him as with Darius. Another example is someone like Warwick. His ultimate is good, but its distance depends on his movement speed, hence his blood hunt, and his passive. Sylas doesn't have that, so his Warwick ult isn't as effective as Warwick himself. Or someone like Lux, she needs to target to be still, hence her Bind, because her ult has a pretty dodgeable hitbox, Sylas just has the ult. Now there are some ults that work fine alone, someone like a Xin Zhao, Or a tryndamere, or some other, and then there are some that Syla's kit actually works well with.

Someone like an Ammummu ult. He has his bandage toss to help him get into the team and provide an AOE stun, Sylas has his E which is essentially the same thing. My point is that Syla's ultimate doesn't work for the most part, and you'll probably end up using it in either panic situations, or very rarely good times to use it. But it also just depends on the enemy team comp. If you don't have any good ults to leech off of, then what's the point of your ult. I get that it's creative and all, and it definitely is don't get me wrong. But in terms of being good, or seeing anything in LCS, that's a no-no for me

Sylas is going to be more balanced then most new champs I think.

He is strong but has weak spots and can fall behind.

He is one of the "Just CC him" type champs tho.

I would say his biggest weakness and counterplay is the enemy team comp.

When playing a ranked game, if you are 1st pick, going Sylas is more or less a auto-lose.

Yet again, we will have to wait and see. For an Ultimate that functions on 140 champions, i believe it explains a lot why it took like 2 months since that photo of chains getting leaked.

Sylas has the potential to be very strong, at least initially, because he is currently "balanced" with the ability to focus almost exclusively damage, or mostly damage with light HP and resistances.

This is bad because it gives him more ability to potentially make BETTER use of damage ratios from ultimates copied from champions what are more required to prioritize non-damage stats.

For example, .. take someone like Amumu. Amumu is pretty likely to build more tank stats than AP, which is why he is allowed to have such a high AP scaling on his ultimate (+80%).

If Sylas is prioritizing AP, he will more than likely deal more damage with Amumu's ultimate than Amumu can.

I think people will eventually catch on to this, and those will be the ultimates that he is more likely to copy.

I believe that Riot might eventually nerf him so that he does require more survivability stats than Ability power, making him more of an AP bruiser.

yeah im sure yet another overloaded AP will be """not strong"""

Nope. Sylas will be either a complete monster or a literal zero. A champ that can literally take other's ulti cant be balanced unless his numbers are r%%%%%iously low.
