You could instantly improve this logo just by putting a border around the fist. The fist needs to pop out more.

Personally I hate the new logo. It fits Riot and their terrible direction they are taking the company.
Agreed that's like some project your digital art professor wants you to do and make it look simple. I mean if they want to go this route at least start opening other venues in the franchise like a LoL mmorpg, FPS and etc.
im not even trying to be funny, their logo really looks like something someone would make the first time they discover MS paint. "lets use a basic font, make the entire background one color and add some meme symbol like a bro fist".
Yeah... keep the old one. Maybe touch up the art style a tiny bit if you put it on a big screen or blow it up to a larger size. But that bottom option is basic AF. No thank you.
I like simplicity. Keep it simple. While I do agree that the old logo is better, if it was something I was planning to replicate with any frequency I would just choose the more simple version.
If you ask me, they should have at the very least kept the same shape of the fist.
