Inb4 "muh abusable" comments: No, one dodge is NOT going to be enough to outright win an entire Bo3 or Bo5 series. The player still has to be good enough to win at least 2 games. This just reduces the frustration of champ select trolls in promos (since you can't dodge promo games as of right now).

I think in ranked any dodge should count as a loss. Not just promos. Perhaps a grace period while the new client is worked out. But after that no dodging allowed.

yeah ok, and then we will have the whole boards and reddit floaded with people complaining that it's unfair to lose 17 points because of trolls, flamers, people that ban other teammates' picks while in champ select, because they were unable to dodge and had to play the game anyway and waste 20 minutes.

At least now you lose 3 points then 10 or something, it doesn't count as a loss.

People should be able to dodge if the situation needs that to happen. Making it a forced loss only makes things worse.

And anyway making dodges count as a loss is plain out stupid. Some dodges are needed. How cheated would you feel if it were to count as a loss if you dodge a champ select because of a valid reason? How does that even make sense for it to be that way??

Players are allowed to dodge for a reason: so we can avoid playing in a toxic environment when we recognize that is the case in lobby. If you have a disco teemo who has intentionally fed his last 10 matches you won't want to play with him when you find this information out and he's spamming the lobby chat with "I'm gonna slather myself in ketchup and stuff the enemy teams faces!"

We have the option to dodge to avoid playing with players like that. And that is just the primary reason dodges exist. There are also other valid reasons.

Lol, mate, you're trying too hard now to troll and it's pathetic.

I've been a top 1% player for years. I'm USED to waiting up to even an hour for a match to go off.

These days queue times are so short because of the silly autofill system that I don't even care. No one in high level play cares about queue times. We actually would prefer to go back to pick order because the match quality was better and that's our only concern.

I don't need any other arguments, I made the only one that matters and yours are all invalid. Lmfao.

The problem is that there is no way to prove whether or not you have a "valid reason to dodge." Every dodge is invalid because of this. You can't prove that a family member is sick vs. you don't feel like playing. A dodge is a dodge. If people can't handle the intensity of ranked, then they should just play normals. I haven't been committed to ranked this entire season so far.

You mean apart from taking screenshots? Or Riot having access to the chat and event logs? Why would you even need to prove it? Riot already knows dodges are necessary sometimes, that's why they added the -3 LP for the first one.

No, -3 LP is because they don't want to punish you severely for dodging accidentally due to disconnections and such. That doesn't mean they approve that you just leave whenever you don't like the team compositions. Have you noticed that there's not "quit" button? You have to close the client to dodge.

And that's exactly why Riot doesn't punish dodges as heavily as they could. Because they KNOW shit happens in champ select and people will be forced to dodge every once in a while. Plus their own client crashes by itself, so there's that.

Proposing harsher punishment for dodges is ridiculous on so many levels.

It has nothing to do with the intensity of a ranked game or even an IRL emergency. It could be something as simple as this guy is trolling going disco Nunu and has been INT feeding in his past 10 games. You surely aren't gonna go through with that game. That's a 100% dodge unless you wanna lose LP for no reason.

My client bugged out on me and all I had was a black screen in champ select so it made me dodge cause I couldn't ban a champ. Made me lose my series and then didn't give me a free win when I got back in...

If this is true it's only recently changed in the last 2 months. In the past it depended on whether you'd reached the series before at all. Certainly worked that way all last season.

Yea I was never aware of that functionality, but maybe it was just a bug, not really sure. I debated putting in a support ticket but decided it was a waste of time cause nothing ever comes of those, just automated responses. I did just win my series now though. Only took me 3 times.. lol

he Is unbanned and the issue caused enough controversy that riot is apparently holding a meeting about it Monday so that they can issue a clear statement to the players at some point

I can understand the dodge feature being a one time thing, but it could still multiply queue times for the unfortunate players affected if their strategy is viewed as ineffective by the community

The issue is, you wouldn't have wasted twenty minutes of your life. You could have gotten those two guys punished by sticking it out and reporting them. That way they cannot hold people hostage in Champion Select in the future. Additionally, in the low chance that they started trying, there's a low chance that you could have pulled the game together if you played amazingly. You just took the loss instead of taking the low chance for the win.

I'm fine with the second point since in that case your sacrifice only affects you negatively, but in the first case, you did the community a disservice by not playing the game out and exposing these players as the terrible people they are to the Instant Feedback System.

if i were u, i'd also have picked an off-meta and play it like normals. Not only it's really fun, usually enemy team actually doesnt know how to counter-act all those off-meta picks in silver and it ends up being as effective as a on-meta comp. ofc, it only applies if ur team's not running down mid ~~and they usually dont, playing the game is more fun than running down mid~~, and u still didnt pick ur champ when ur ally troll did.
