Matchmaking in this Game is Funny

So I was doing my Gold 5 promos yesterday and currently according to op.gg, I have Gold 4 MMR.

I legit had a game where I was paired with a Silver 3 on my team and a Gold 3 in their Gold 2 promos for my Gold 5 promos. The other two were Gold 5 and we were versus a full Silver 1 team with an unranked. Had another promo game where a Silver 4 and Gold 3 was matched with us. Why is the system like this?

Why does it go and pick some person above team elo and then try to balance it with a lower ranked person to try and balance the teams? Clearly our team would have won and clearly the Gold 3 would have carried the game while the Silver 3 had a rough start. Why am I facing Gold 4 people when I'm Silver 1?

Edit: Actually the s1 team had one g5 on it too

The current people in the tier from the 2 matches you played yesterday as Lux were all between Gold III and Silver II. That's not even a whole rank difference I don't see what the issue especially with as you say -- it matches you based on your MMR.

Ranking has nothing to do with the matchmaking, its MMR, the silver 3 probably has a silver 1 mmr while the gold 3 might have a gold 5 mmr. all about how they play in their games. always the possibility of a smurf or booster aswell.

Yeah and the difference of skill level in silver and gold is nominal at best. Where you really start seeing "skill" of different of levels is gold - platinum

-Bronze lack Mechanics / Macro -Silver below average in Mechanics OR Macro -Gold is just average in both -Platinum is above average in Mechanics and/or Macro -Diamond is elite in Mechanics and Macro

Also as others have stated, their MMR could have been close to yours.
