Worst community of any online game I have ever played.

I have never in my life played video games with people like the people in this community until I started playing this game. I will begin by saying... I am 26 years old, married, in the Marine Corps, and I am getting ready to get out to finish my first bachelors then go into a specialty program. I am not some whiny kid complaining about losing games.

Probably 95% of people have this attitude where they think they are right 100% of the time, and refuse to take advice even when it is given nicely with explanations (in detail) of why. The "summoners code" does not help this... as a matter of fact there are things in it that people like this go to in order to defend this attitude of theirs. I understand the pick order thing. I get it. It makes sense... to a point. But because of that pick order, it causes wastes of space like I am talking about to completely ignore everyone and just pick. No communication. No team work. No thought into picks. No considering other peoples preferences. I personally play every roll, and play it well, I'm not like "wah wah wah I get my roll taken"... Idc. But some people do and the fact that people fight over it, and some even ruin games when they don't get their way... that's my point. Its like dealing with a bunch of 8 year old siblings. The community is complete crap.

Everyone does exactly what they want to do, and don't care at all about team work or anything. Everyone always has to be right, and God forbid you say something constructive when they aren't. Its as if you raped their children in front of them. You (riot) have facilitated these attitudes with your ban system which does literally nothing. I imagine I've been reported 1000x for various unjustified reasons by the people I am describing now, and guess what... I've never been banned.

The one thing about bad players I will complain about... I often look at players accounts after games they just completely throw or feed in.... Why when you look at some guys account... who consistently (in ranked) has a like .5 kda... no turret kills... just someone who clearly has zero understanding of the game. Why can they still queue ranked? You should really implement something that gauges that... I know its kind of unrealistic, but its really demoralizing when it happens. What kind of competitive system allows for that? None that I know of except for League of Legends. On top of that (much more rare, but WAY WAY WAY WAY more common than any other game I've ever played) is feeders. It happens... way more than it should. If that happens... or you have an afk.. There should be a loss prevent, and your MMR should not be negatively affected. I am currently gaining between 22 and 28 LP per game... and I lose MAYBE 15 per loss. Yet I have been pushed out of maybe 6 (not sure for sure) promo series due to unimaginably bad throws, afk, or feeds? Again. What kind of system that can clearly tell you excel your peers, and based off my LP gain/loss it can... still keeps you down with them.

And before you people say bronzie stop whining, you belong there. Shove a boot in your mouth, because I have gone from B5 to S4 in just a few weeks... I am not worried about ranking up, all that takes is grinding and time, and prayers to not get human garbage on your team. "Elo hell" does exist, however you can get out of it, but it doesn't mean its not a hell. The fact that 90% of grinding out is carrying bad players... that's my point. A ranked game should not require you to carry people to advance... it should have 5 people... all of whom play at a certain level... against 5 other people... who play at the same level. This games solo queue match making / horrible community does not facilitate that.

Unfortunately. You made an excellent game, so I do still play it. I am just voicing that it has drawn the crappiest community and match making system I have ever been a part of.

It's not the worst. WoW has just as many if not more douchebag players. And CoD and the like.. oh God shudder. Nothing like a 10 year old screaming into your headset profanity after you "take their kill" for the 9th time.

CoD yes, but I do agree with the OP to some degree, this community is among the worst, and everything he stated in his post I have seen multiple times.

My advice: Just play with a full group of friends. I don't bother anymore with these retards in this game, you get trolls, feeders, morons, or people who complain, whine, and don't communicate.

I can't say I agree with you. Riot enforces their ban policies and chat restrictions pretty well and it seems to negate a lot of the more ridiculous people. You're going to get ragers but certainly no worse than any other cooperative game you would play.

Every community has douche bags.

That doesn't justify their existence. It means Riot needs to crack down harder on them.

Riot is tougher on douchebags then most other communities. The problem most people have is that the old tribunal wasn't fast in dealing with said douche bags. The new system should deal with them better.

THANK YOU OP. I have been trying to say this exact thing for weeks now and all I hear is "you are in your proper elo". My ELO is 811 and I hands down had to carry a team of 1200-1600+ elo players this morning. Its so basic, there are people who understand that there is an objective, that there are multiple objectives in that objective. But there are way more players that just have no clue. You can ping the map 100 times to warn someone that they are getting ganked and they just stand there and get killed.

I play mostly ADC and find myself at the end of the game with by far the most wards places, by far most cs, by far most turrets drags buffs and inhibs. Riot needs to do something about sorting the players. Its not easy, but it is their job, and they CAN make it possible to create an algorithm that makes more even playing field.

It isn't 100% to stop trolls afks etc, but perhaps match people somewhat on age, somewhat on ELO, somewhat on personal stats. I would much rather play with people my own age (22) or older, knowing generally people this age are all playing for the same reason, and aren't going to whine when they don't get there roll. Like I said, that's not going to 100% fix it, Im sure there are 25 year old whiny trolls too.

The fact is, its a huge issue for many people and needs to be addressed, if you are high elo and are going to write negative comments at people in low ELO. just move on to a different thread.

Wow isn't bad at all, I've played since 2004 on and off and the community has its problems (impatience), but as far as people listening to people trying to lead. They generally follow your advice. Which is the issue in this game. I religiously make calls that people don't listen to and more often than not it results in a death or even some times a loss. Because people in this community (in general) feel like they always know best and everyone else is an idiot. I am not saying I know everything. I don't, and I make bad calls occasionally, but for God's sake if someone makes a call and you don't agree, at least consider it and then when it was right admit you were jacked up. That's my problem.

I do want to agree on the call part. I'm one of those people that tries to get my team focused and hitting right people because when you lose, and everyone does, its usually happening because of that one person thats like "No, thats not a tank. Its an ADC in disguise that built Thornmail and Spirit Visage." then proceeds to call it out every team fight. =/ Only reason I miss LOTRO is that when you made a call, PVE/Dungeon/PVP, people listened and did what they were told. They might ask why, but they did it. =( My match history is bad, so please don't judge my comment by that or be offended by the aforementioned. Its a statement of observation from a player.

Every online community is about as bad as every other - with the exception of a few smaller, more exclusive communities(usually alphas/betas of games, like Hex and Heroes of the Storm currently) - and trying to state that one community is worse than ALL of the others is probably due to some form of cognitive bias or other.

I've written about this several times on the old forums, and I even made an article on the subject for my website ( http://www.shadowedblade.net/2014/05/muses-the-toxicity-of-the-internet/ ), but realistically speaking... online communities - including League of Legends - are simply not as bad as you are leading yourself to believe. Yes, there's negativity... but they are a small minority, and if you treat everyone with respect, you'll find yourself treated the same way most of the time. Personally speaking, among my 450+ ranked games this season and hundreds of ARAM/URF/bot games/etc., I would say I average one troll in every 10 games: EXCEPT when I myself am in a bad mood and am not controlling that properly(like last weekend).

When I notice an influx of trolls, it almost always corresponds to the games when I am acting poorly due to personal issues. I personally feel that if you are noticing trolls a lot, take a look at your own behaviour - because maybe you're helping to create them. It can be hard to admit and hard to realize... but people DO create their own trolls, and it's often without even realizing it. Did you snap at someone trying to offer you advice? Were you a jerk to the annoying duo queue in champ select? Did you start your game complaining about how bad the last one was?

I think the two most important things to remember are that how you act inspires how others act around you - one way or another - and that we all have a responsibility both for how our community is perceived and how we treat others within it.

I'll agree that this community is pretty terrible. Not the absolute worst, but most of the reason I don't play Ranked is simply because I don't trust this community.

I still don't know why this was put in Gameplay and Balance...but that's just nitpicking.
