I normally do play within the realms of what is considered meta, but when I want to have fun I like taking 
top as an attack speed ap mage, 
or 
mid , and do pretty well with them. For a while I tried AD Janna top or AP mid but some champs are too incapable of filling a nonmeta role, I'm hoping bard isn't one of these and I can make him a solo laner or maybe try JG with him?
Kouga1 votesHis passive seems pretty intent on making him roam, and his only damage is via his Q (which they did say would be potent poke) but since his only CC makes them invulnerable he doesn't really have a way to finish the fight; if they get low, they can just back off. With his stun or ult he could set up for his jungler to gank.. and depending on the stats of his Shrines he could self-sustain pretty easily from the sounds of it.
I think a better non-support route might be jungling. He naturally lends to roaming and he can stun the creeps with his Q. Between his Q, Trailblazer and the Krugs buff he could probably hold down the camp pretty well so I think he'd be safe, although slow, since again he has so little damage in his kit. But his portals would let him zip around easy and between his stun, portals and ult his ganks could be beastly.
The Ruin Sage1 voteswould be awesome if he has decent AD scaling, i'd like to try adc bard myself haha.
