Can we get some context on this change please? Elise just got back into the game and it's like they're already trying to delete her again.

I'm not a pro player so maybe I won't understand but this crap just looks like a massive nerf to me.

20 with a .15 ratio? And then they didn't even atleast compensate her with some reduced mana cost for it. I just don't get it..

I had to reread it as well to get a better understanding of it. It is a DOT spell now and that is 20 + .15AP per second at level one. This lasts for 3 seconds, meaning that she will deal 60 + .45AP to champions at level 1, and this is doubled to 6 seconds or 120 + .9 AP against monsters. Given the maximum current%HP damage to monsters was 175 damage on the old Q, this will easily outclass it in terms of clears, though not as bursty. The change to DOT is actually an improvement given her core build seems to always include Liandry's; a DOT refreshes the DOT on Liandry's until the original DOT ends after 3 seconds. So there will be more burn from the item due to the damage being DOT now. Also keep in mind that Q will be better against low hp targets by not being based on %currentHP.

Now the bad parts. The ability is 80 mana to cast, so it is not spammable even though it has a 1 second CD (I think this is kinda stupid honestly and it would be equally effective if the CD was 3 seconds). It actually does lower her burst damage so it gives enemies more chances to fight back or run away if she catches them out. It also lowers her damage against high HP targets, but the tradeoff is that it is more effective against low HP targets.

Elise has plenty of power as is that this won't affect her too much. Her damage and burst is a little bit worse with this change, but I don't think it will gut her as a lot of people think it will. I actually wouldn't be too surprised if her winrate stays the same or even increases after 5.16. Anyway, hope that clears things up. Peace.

I will miss being able to E > Q > W > to take out half their health. Then just finish them of with spider form. item 3070

It's on a 1 second cooldown, the damage also has 3 ticks I believe on top of it having 6 ticks on monsters?

Not sure if it stacks.

If it does then I'm pretty sure every Elise player is just going to rush Arch-Angel's and blow people up.

each second for 3 seconds.

So it's 60+0.45ap. Which her current Q does 40 base with only scaling on the % part. Outside of HP builders it shouldn't be too bad other than epic monsters who have the HP to make the % shine more. (Blue and Red don't really have enough for it to matter overall).

But, current Q is on a 6s cooldown. While the damage per cast may be even/less depending on HP. If you keep this up you'll net more damage. Of course not mattering to monsters where it gets double duration.

My main problem is that they expect you to maintain this at 80 mana a pop.

This could be leading into a rework. Perhaps she's going to become the poison mage Cass players wanted. Would be cool to see her other abilities combo with this. Such as her human W gaining the %hp she lost on Q when it hits a poisoned target. Making Q>W>R>Q very deadly. Could just be an experiment to see what they can do next.

Her Q currently has a pretty low damage ceiling for monsters, so this'll probably be a chance for the better when fighting them.

Interesting change. She's more like a poke mage withering down her enemy slowly rather than instantly taking 20% of their max health. Also 1 second cd allows her to deal damage to multiple targets at a time although it might cost her her whole mana pool.

Rank 5 Q will deal 180(+0.45% AP) damage during the 3 seconds. item 3151 + item 3116 will become a thing on her.

I'm not sure how I feel about shifting Elise's identity towards being a poke mage that prefers a longer drawn out battle. I would like to know what RIOT thinks is the problem with Elise's current kit.

Thanks everyone for explaining things to me. Makes me feel way more comfortable about this.
