Why Smite is BROKEN in Season 5

First off, let me give you a hint of what the season 5 smite changes are, all summarized in a nutshell for you: http://www.surrenderat20.net/2014/10/109-pbe-update.html

Anyways, let us begin the discussion on why smite is BROKEN in season 5 as it currently stands and why it can be EASILY abused by people.

First off, the identity of smite had been completely lost with the ability to smite OTHER CHAMPIONS with a hunter's machete enchantment. Before these changes, smite was a spell that people knew as one to conquer the monsters or secure a buff. These uses were defensive and promoted defensive play (with possible offensive uses, but mainly defensive), but now since smite can be used against champions, it's a completely different thing. While I do agree that junglers need a buff, this is not the way to do it as now smite promotes extremely offensive play, and it has lost this identity. Not to mention, Laners can pick up smite and a hunter's machete enchantment to end up with a summoner spell that is probably better than ignite itself.

Now my second part mentions how smite can be easily abused by laners to gain an early advantage and eventually snowball. LoL is already a game full of snowballing, the first 10 minutes can decide the entire game (cough cough Worlds FInals). Now, the buffs that people recieve when they smite a neutral monster can be abused by laners to gain an easy advantage with a neutral monster buff. Laners can take smite to easily get a free buff for their lane and pretty much win it

If you don't understand, lets say that a tristana ADC takes smite. He leashes the jungler until Krugs and smites it for a buff that gives him execute damage. Now, the tristana is acting as such a huge lane bully with her support and ends up snowballing, carrying, and winning the game. Why did this happen? Because the Tristana took smite and got a free buff early - and this smite abuse can be transposed throughout the entire game - not just the beginning.

Rito, we need to fix smite before season 5 begins.

And give up the other summoners spell. So she will lose a heal a ignite or a flash. For a minor buff that will barely last 1 min? Seems good to me.

Yes, the Trist with a hunters machete, smite, and a minor buff will be able to out duel an ADC with a Dorans and heal

Smite was defensive?

Wait, hold on a second, Smite was defensive???

Since when was Smite a defensive summoner spell? The entire point of it was to speed up jungle clear, secure buffs and push lanes. How in Lissandra's frozen hell is that defensive?

I was just in a game where there was 3 champions on the opposite team that had smite, instead of getting blue or red, they got dragon. Giving them the dragon slayer stack, which in turn giving their whole team a major advantage through out the game but extremely early. Dont think that was fair. Our jg later rage quit and we lost, with in the first 3-4 mins.

Almost no one wants to buy ignite. an ignite on a lower cooldown in exchange for less damage is useless.

The strength of ignite is that as long as it is up your enemy has less effective health and has to recall sooner to avoid you killing them with ignite. But you still need the constant damage from other items to reach that point.

Personally, I'm not a fan of any of the changes. For a company that has told us over and over again it wants the game to be more clarity less complexity, this next season is going to be a whole lot of complex. I can't imagine being a new player with these changes, nothing just works as it appears...everything has a catch.

The tower? Not just a tower. It also has a special shield. Which also protects champions. Oh and not all the towers are the same. See those back ones? They do extra abilties. Level scaling? Nah, you dont get stronger as you get to higher levels. Well, sometimes, that is. There is a complex equation that explains how well youll fair against differently leveled people. Want to buy boots? Hella different types with different bonuses. Want to buy elxirs? Hella different types with different bonuses. Want to upgrade your machete? Hella different types with different bonuses. Dragon? Does extra shit now too, and the scaling is all over the place. Buffs? Red does 10 different functions now.

Obviously exaggerated, but are these changes needed or are people just getting bored of the game? Plus, the little things like youve pointed out...League of Cleavers part 2 but with a different item inc? ;-;
