Why isn't Hunter's machete called Doran's machete?
I just though that all the other starting items we have - shield, blade, and ring. Why does the jungler starting item get slapped with a name that doesn't have Doran in it?

Doran made items for new adventures. Sturdy and reliable items that give as much as they can for what they are, they also don't upgrade. Machete doesn't fit any of that.

Doran's items are simple things that don't evolve. His most complex weapon ever created is Wukong's staff, but then he got BRAIN PROBLEMS and can only make silly simple things.
The machete can be upgraded, and therefore is probably something Doran himself couldn't create (anymore).

Because Doran retired to a quiet life before the advent of the machete.
I beleive dorans items were created after a battle between noxus and demacia somthing about ionia? And the winners got to choose some new items and hunters machete pre dates that. Correct me if im wrong!
Doran was a part of the league, who would have made an excellent artificer if only the accident hadn't happened. After the accident, he was only capable of making basic items.

I dont believe the rematch ever occurred, also the doran items were around in 2009, whereas the Ionia v Noxus match occured in 2010- giving birth to the CDR boots- and the Machete was introduced in the first patch of preseason 3, aka Dec 2012, along with Nami

you may be thinking of the other item that was available for choice to the winning team- an item similar to dorans blade; only supplying spellvamp and AP, not lifesteal and AD

The NoxusxIonia rematch was won by Ionia, and they were given a choice of getting new boots, or a new dorans item. The boots were chosen and hurrah! We have Ionian boots of lucidity. The dorans items have been here forever.

For technical and lore reasons. Doran wouldn't have been able to make a jungling item that fit into what the designers were looking for (e.g. an upgradeable item). So, they gave it a new name.
Unfortunately I don't know the history of the hunter's machete but I'm sure there is some story about it written somewhere, probably something along the lines of it being a relic of some experienced hunter of monsters.
