Is it even possible to get out of Bronze as a support?

Cavesloth··2 votes·6,923 views

All of my friends who are gold or above have told me, "don't try climb as support", but I just don't seem to do well in any other role in ranked. In norms I do fine in other roles, but ranked not so much. So my question is, can you get out of bronze as support outside of people who are master or challenger (or even diamond), that information doesn't help me, just because they can do it doesn't mean I can.

Yes, dont focus on winning focus on improving yourself. Once you improve you will climb

I agree 100%

Stop worrying about winning.

Go back and watch your match replays. . . what is happening about 30s to a minute before your death?

Are you building a sight stone? using vision intelligently? Are you clearing enemy wards?

Support's a complicated role, that can often make or break a match.

I ward religiously. Clearing enemy vision is something i'm trying to get better at, b/c I'll be honest I forget sweeper about half the time. Most of the time when i die its because i go in to poke and be aggressive and the enemy counterengages while my adc sits and farms.

Yes, you can clime out of bronze with any role. went from B5 to B1 as a support main. My tip though is don't try play full utility champs like Lulu, Karma, Sona, Soraka, ect. Get good at cc heavy counter engage tank supports like Braum Leona Alistar Taric Nautilus. It will 1st off make sure your team will have a tank(willl not be the case in bronze, it's rare to get a tank) and allows your ADC to be a little safer in lane and you can baby sit them :)

I would just play supports that can do damage / carry, which basically limits you to mages. Annie Karma Brand Sona are some that come to mind, if you're good at landing skill shots you could go Zilean or Zyra as well, but I consider those high risk supports as if you fall behind in lane with them it is very very difficult to come back from without help from another team mate.

I have to say Zilean bombs are easy to land. Even I question the hitbox of the thing when I land the bombs. To answer OP's question, yes it is very possible as long as you know how to play the role effectively. It's very high impact if done right. Also you don't deal with auto filled supports if you play support in ranked. Yay.

I do main sona/zyra for the most part. My problem usually lies when my adc picks a "safe" laner (cait or ez) and my playstyle is aggressive, given that I play those champs, or when our lane does well, but the other lanes don't and I'm just not good enough to carry. Its almost like I need a mage support that can also split push well if our team wants to constantly teamfight, but sucks at doing so.

Yes. I seen people climb from Bronze to Gold on champs like Thresh.

Yes it is very possible

I've always done better as the damage dealer so i just picked mages and killed the bot lane. then roamed mid and killed them to.

Utility supports can do the same thing and arguablly do it better because its way easier to set up a kill (imo) then to try and just repeatedly cheese it.

Yeah i've had alot of luck with MF, land Sona ult, she ults, its pretty unfair cheese.

that's how i got out fam

Taric pre-rework (he's garbo now don't bother) and Leona basically what i played when i started off in bronze 1

play shit that's impossible for even a bronze team to fuck up with

I've tried her a few games, and so far while I can win with an ADC thats meh, I still lose when i get paired with one of those adcs that wants to play safe, and is about aggressive as a bag of snails. So what do I do with those adcs?

Cavesloth1 votes

Had a bit of luck, but I still usually lose when paired with a Cait or an Ezreal (the safe laners). My plat friend explained to me that people who pick Caits or Ezreals are subconsciously acknowledging that they suck, and need to play someone safe so they don't feed, and that basically means they've lost the game before it has even started. So what do you do when your stuck with these types?

mmmm my buddy is ranked d3 and he plays ez and cait like a beast....both champs may be safe but if played right you can be extreamly abusive and honestly ez takes ALOT of skill to really master, yes he is passive but can be supper abusive once you have sheen and tear, once you have trin-force youre basically going to snowball as long as you arent behind by too much

Justin Hermouth1 votes

when your adc is too passive protect him when you can and gank mid before you return from you backs, if hes super passive he knows if youre not in lane to be extra cautious

Ok up to 73% winrate with Leona, almost out of bronze, it seems to be working many thanks sir.

Blitzcrank

No joke, this champion is such a noob stomper. If you can land your hooks, you can win lane, snowball and get out of bronze in no time

Cavesloth1 votes

But hes banned so damn often is the only prob, otherwise I would.

omg i actually need help here i main these three champs Thresh Blitzcrank Janna and i still cant get out of bronze. I counted my landed hook to hook ratio for 5 games, (i am a nerd) and it was around 3/5 but they dont seem to help. As janna i save around 5 lives in laning phases and 2 per team fight. What do i do, they die even after i save them once as janna and my hooks dont seem to help my adc please

Akali is SO HOT1 votes

Sona Blitzcrank Thresh Janna

Take your pick and get to diamond in no time

i main the last three.... i am still in b4.... im not bad i swear

lol i try my best to main blitZ....BUT UNFORTUNATELY HIS HIGH BAN RATE MAKES IT REALLY HARD...honestly try high impact/mage supports....its also always nice to have a buddy whos good at other roles outside bot lane like JG or mid to duo with....personally if i solo que by myself i go jg and play champs like shen ivern or rammus so i can support my team from the sideline while still being able to influence the game....when i duo que im always support so i can make sure that bot at least doesnt snowball too hard since support is my strongest role....mind you this season i got jipped hard....i did my placements against silver 3 and higher players and won the majority of my games and was still placed b5....mind you i didnt feed, i had a strong vision score, and my MMR throughout my placements was 1495 which is equivalent to that of G5 players....being a support main is hard because you have to focus on picks but my main advice to you is be patient....in bronze everyone is bound to mess up you just need to sit back and wait for your chance to capitalize on it.....rush vision first then build damage or utility depending on if youre ahead or behind....always have vision on gank points, if youre being ganked tell you adc to ether slow push or freeze lane on your turret side of river or mid river and when your adc backs or dies and you have time go for cheese ganks on mid if possible....people say support is the least influential role but honestly it isnt....you litterally have the power to clutch plays, open your team up with the ability to dive, and can set everything up...glhf and i wish you a better season
