I have to restart the client after every game

Since the 7.11 patch I have to restart the client after every game, there's a visual bug where only a tiny rectangle at the top of the client is visible, the rest blends in with the desktop. I can move the client around but only that little rectangle is visible. So i have to go into the task manager and close the client, and then restart SO FUN!!!! This is of course on top of the other bug where the client resizes itself after every game to 1024x576 from 1280x720 that has been there since the new client. #I miss the old client. This one is buggy pile of crap. Shoulda waited on that rollout.

So I started having this problem today and the problem for me is: running the game in any other resolution besides my native monitor resolution (2560x1440) causes this problem.

I don't know why but 1080p/900p/720p (only tested this 3 but I guess it goes for anything but native) causes this bug. Anything but max resolution aka native causes this issue for me. Going back to native of course fixed it but I am stuck with it until this is fixed or someone knows a work around for this?

Using the ctrl+plus to "fix" it but with the weird black bars on the corners helps but after every game the bar increases size and the client window gets smaller and smaller to a point that theres more black bars under and on the right then client window itself.

2 days passed since my bug report to rito support but still no fix for that "end-game window not showing properly" bug [slayer-jinx-unamused]

I have the same problem and i've been told it has something to do with resizing. My resolution in game is 1366x768 so my screen has to resize after every game

this has been happening to me too and it's soooo fcking annoying and buggy. i managed to get around the client turning into a small rectangle bug by choosing to close the client ingame, but when i finish my game it takes forever to open up again. but the resizing bug is always there and still haven't found a way to get rid of it. i reported it to riot one month ago and still no response, they don't seem to care.[zombie-brand-facepalm]

To anyone who may still be having this issue (failure to load post-game screen/weird rectangle), the following worked for me...

On the client executable, right click and open properties. Under "Compatibility," select "Override high DPI scaling behavior." Then select "System" for "Scaling performed by:"

If this doesn't work for you, perhaps try "System (Enhanced)" or "Application."

Hope this helps.

FIX - Ive figured out how to solve it, after reinstalling it had same problem, so i UNINSTALLED the game, made sure all RIOT FOLDERS were DELETED AND, you must check " SEE HIDDEN FILES " and go to "C:\ProgramData\Riot Games" and DELETE the file " machine.cfg " ( this is the file that's messing up with resolution and i dont know why it just worked for me ( im using windows 8.1 just so you know ). After all these are deleted, it might also help to restart your pc,then reinstall game :)

HOPE IT WORKS

Open up a game. When the game opens, Alt+Tab out. On your taskbar, not the client, but the game you have running, right-click it. Right-click LoL and click properties. Click compatibility. If you have "Run in 640x480 screen resolution" CHECKED, then uncheck it.

You're welcome.

I have the similar problem, the client disappears after every game. 4k monitor, CPU E5 2643v3, GPU R9 Nano. after the game, the client become like this: http://puu.sh/AWImz/4eb089fb31.png I have to restart it every game. also, due to poor gaming experience beyond 1080P, I am always using fullscreen 1080P in game. when i get out of the game, the client will become like my screenshot.

it seem something to do with "compatibility scaling" method used in windows 8.1 and up, where they permanently removed the good ol' XP style custom scaling (hint: it fucking sucks, just like every other bits of rushed code in this ad-supported operating system). now i would say something like "M$ $trikes again" but no, there are programs which works perfectly with windows 10 dpi approach, and either no-one at riot runs a 4K or 2K monitor (impossible to see anything unless you turn down the resolution which causes the bug) or they developed it outside of windows 10 environment. either way, it is hard for me to believe people are getting paid to code html5 web page on what is essentially a chromium browser which also means you can't have you actually browser doing anything with hardware acceleration (such as youtube video) and client not been buggy and laggy on anything thats not high end computers. why do we have this "thing" when a 16 year old can code a better interface in visual basic? TL;DR after windows 8.1 Micro$oft f$$$$$ up the good old scaling. league client is a MASSIVE piece of {spaghetti code here} riot game is marketing over functionality clearly

Aatrox first the client then the championAatrox

So there are 2 approaches i use to achieve bug-free gameplay.

  1. DPI 100% 100% means everything is scaled 1-1 so nothing has to change. if you want to use native resolution with 100% scaling then too bad, everything WILL be tiny as hell. make sure graphic driver set full screen to obey the tra$h M$ $caling. you can also use a lower resolution, one that you play the game at, for your display. this way everything is nicely sized.

Pro: nothing breaks, you kinda get what you want. Cons: if native res everything is tiny af. if use in-game res then everything will be slightly blurry (wait a second isn't that what display scaling is for?)

(Recommended) (Recommended) (Recommended) (Recommended) (Recommended) (Recommended) (Recommended) (Recommended) 2. Windowed or Boarderless This way the game behave as a windows instead of change your resolution causing the shit eating client to crap itself. if you want the game to still fill up the screen we just do a little mc'calculation. e.g. i have a macbook pro (its okay i deleted OSX and run win8.1) (i hate win10), beautiful hardware crippled by apple's decision to use a E X O T I C 2880x1800 display. (useless waste of power) I want to run the game at 1440x900 res (beautiful 96 dpi). my native is 2880*1800 and my scaling is 200% to imitate 1440x900. so i do 1440x2=2880 so i can have to game running at 1440x900 but scaling blows it up to 2880x1800. noice. also, you have to make sure the league client and the ingame client(confusing isnt it) both has nothing special on their property, by that i mean when u right click their exe and select property and one the compatibility tab nothing is selected. i say this because you may have (or the client may be) set it to disable scaling on high dpi, which does nothing except on latest build on win10? (not sure i think its still buggy) when using this approach, if in doubt, use dpi awareness enabler to remove all changes to the properties of the said files. find all league related exes on the box below, the one with "flags" as one of the label. right click and delete. all of them. so their property is set to nothing.

Pros: you get ur native res and game running at whatever you like and not too tiny since scaling blows it up. Pros: no full screen so light speed alt-tab Cons: any full screen not native will fk it up like other games. if can use window mode you should. Cons: full screen inherently less demanding then windowed or boarderless. Cons: if you want the game to perfectly 1440--> 2880 like my example you also have to auto- hide the taskbar.

(IMPORTANT) (IMPORTANT) (IMPORTANT) (IMPORTANT) (IMPORTANT) (IMPORTANT) (IMPORTANT) (IMPORTANT) (IMPORTANT) (IMPORTANT) If you are experiencing the game client resizes for no reason whatsoever whenever syndrome

  1. choose your preferred client res, click done
  2. go to C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\Config, and set LCULocalPreferences.yaml to read-only. ( almost the very last line, on video, zoom scale, the number determine which of the set res is used for the client. if while client is open you cant make the setting stick then close it and use numeral value, save it, lock it. for reference 1024 is 0.8, 1280 is 1 and the rest? ain't nobody got time to find out. they are all 16:9, to my grief)

every patch you shall observe the behavior of the client and the game and see if they are fine or not. if the clients are in some sorta trouble you should also see if it still occur without my changes that you have used. so far no behavior i observe suggest my methods breaks anything whatsoever however your mileage may very. hopefully it isn't nothing more than the nuisance of reapply setting every patch.

RANT BELOW RANT BELOW RANT BELOW RANT BELOW RANT BELOW RANT BELOW

(If only riot is not doing whatever emote spam HUD they are doing then...) 3. riot game finally make client DPI-Aware and is able to be sized on-the-fly instead of already set reso for an example open google chrome native res and run league at not native full screen. you alt tab out and boom chrome sure looks weird on the top left of the screen not maximized, but if i hide it and show it again it will be full and functioning.

(best solution) 4. make league client a scaling local webpage which communicates to leagueoflegends.com(or whatever server you use) , and the webpage calls to the layer-client.exe or whatever you wanna call it, when you finish champ select. this way you can leave all the work to chrome devs and they already solved the problem, and no one has to deal with shitty client stability problem. and you can have both client youtube open or whatever. or you know, full screen client, like dota.

on the scale of reworks, you have Warwick (easy, fun, strong, consistent, balance-ble) to Aatrox (from never good at all to god tier, reworked into shitty riven that require buff that may make him broken) at the very other end of the scale is the old client. oh i miss ye, da ol-de cliento. and its funny because client is far more demanding both network wise and CPU/GPU wise.

thanks for hearing me ranting (you didn't want to) and feel free to reply if your problem ain't gone, ill try my best in the absence of riot support lol.

i have the same problem after the LOL client was updated to 7.11. "close the client during game" option kinda fixes this issue but then u can't see the end game (post-game) screen.

even tho you leave the game in process or alt+tab and check the LOL window, u will see the same thing :D

I submitted a bug report ticket to riot support a few hours ago and i guess this "end-game client window not showing properly" bug will be fixed in a few days :)

after a game finishes my client stays minimized and have to click and sometimes it does what you describe too, only get one small rectangle at the top of my desktop I think every since June or so the client has given me lots of bugs and the game itself still sometimes doesn't update ppl ult stats either (looks empty instead of green circles)

KVbqbFsC8e6/3/2017, 5:55:59 AM1 votes

Same thing happens to me, and its really fucking annoying.

Client turns into a tiny black rectangle that you can drag around but otherwise cannot interact with whatsoever. And of course I've also had that client resizing bug since forever.

sahtekarlord6/16/2017, 11:43:19 PM1 votes

same problem still persists in my LOL client even after 7.12 update. So your client is fixed? I mean you found any solutions Cavesloth? :D

in support ticket, rito support told me to uninstall and reinstall LOL client but i think it won't work -_-
