Ekko: Whats good and what needs to be reduced

So, I did get the opportunity to play Ekko on the PBE and I have also been playing him a lot on live. Here are my current thoughts on him

(TL:DR at the very bottom)

A little bit of CC can easily melt this guy, but his damage is ridiculous. His ability kit is very good, and rewards good timing with amazing plays. The problem is that his scaling's are so high, you don't even need to work for your kills. I will go over each ability and what I think should be changed.

Passive: His passive makes running from Ekko very hard, however, the damage is a little ridiculous. 3 stacks of this passive does more than his Q does on return (Which is a lot). All you need to do is E, land Q and basic attack and watch anybody die.

Solution: Lower the AP scaling on his passive to around 35% (which is half of its current value). With Luden's Ekko AND Lich Bane, I think he has enough sudden burst to live with that nerf.

Q: To be honest I don't have a problem with his Q. The outgoing damage is quite puny, and the incoming damage is reasonable considering the chances of the enemy sticking around for it. However, if they are stunned, they are pretty much screwed.

Solution: Lower the AP scaling on incoming from 60% to 50%. That should make his Q balanced in my opinion.

W: This ability rewards you very much for using it correctly. While the stun does last 2.25 seconds, I think that is a good amount. Considering that the enemies can see when you cast ability, and it also has a 3 second delay, if it does land, you should be rewarded for it. Also, the passive is good for finishing off enemies. It doesn't proc off ability uses and only procs on basic attack, which in my opinion is fine. (Zed's is far more powerful). However, that shield must be wacked a few times with the nerf hammer.

Solution: This shield has 80% scaling. Holy crap. Who's idea was this. Anyway, lower the AP scaling to 40%. At 40%, around mid-end game the shield is STILL about 550-600 health. 2 Seconds is more than enough time to wreck some face, and the shield will protect you from the focus. A 1000+ health shield end game is just too much.

E: When creating this ability, I wonder if anybody considered the fact that Lich's Bane and Luden's Echo were items in this game? shrug The scaling on the ability is fine. However, considering it allows Ekko to roll AND teleport to somebody, that should of raised some flags. Yes, Kassadin does have 60% scaling on his W, but at least it doesn't teleport him.

Solution: Don't touch the AP scaling. Instead, lower the base damage to 40 / 65 / 90 / 115 / 140 ( The same base damage on Kassadin W)

R: His R is pretty good. The heal amount is reasonable, the cooldown is long enough that Ekko cannot abuse it, however, the damage scaling is A LOT.

Solution: His ult isn't the easiest thing to trap a large group of enemies in, however, 130% is just too much AP scaling. Lowering the scaling to 110% is enough that the ult will still do lots of damage, but not too much.

TL:DR:

  • Passive - 70% AP scaling lowered to 35%
  • Q - 60% AP scaling lowered to 50%
  • W - 80% AP scaling lowered to 40% AP scaling
  • E - Base Damage lowered from 50 / 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 to 40 / 65 / 90 / 115 / 140
  • R - 130% AP scaling lowered to 110% AP scaling.

Your vote kind of sucks. It gives two options nerf him (you nerf everything which I do not agree with) or nerf him harder. I do think the slow on his passive needs to be nerfed and the damage on his ult reduced a little (not much it is very easy to avoid I mean can people not see the glowing version of ekko) the 110% might be where it needs to be because it won't be super insane, but still allow him to do a ton of damage and 100-0 squishies. and I think the rest of his stuff is in a good place.

Also why are you comparing kassadin's w to ekkos e (they have completely different uses)? "Kassadin's W doesn't teleport him".... well it doesn't need to because his ult is a teleport. Which happens to be on a much shorter cooldown and can be used to escape. Sure ekkos e can be used to escape, but the teleport part of his e doesn't help with that. And I do know ekko's ult is a teleport/escape, but unlike kassadins it has a long cooldown and you do not have nearly as much control as to where you're going.

To be hoenst there was supposed to be a third option but I clicked Enter instead of Tab. And since you cannot edit a poll... I guess I didn't really have much of a choice but to leave it. The Third option was no, he should be less nerfed. And the reason I compared his E to kassadins W was to show that the bonus scaling on his next basic attack isn't too high compared to another champion.

Okay I thought you were using kass's W to say his e is "op" and I agree with the hidden poll option 3 lol.

Yep. Would be cool if we could edit polls, but oh well. But yea I can understand the misunderstanding.
