I've Noticed Something About The Voice Chat Drama
The people who do not want it, for the most part, don't play ranked.
Now, i respect all players opinions, and in most issues playing ranked does not make a difference on your view, however in this case, it does.
Pros
-
Faster rotations to baron, sidelanes, objectives, and picks that would not be as fast without comms such as voice
-
Ability to communicate with team throughout the game faster than with the chat and ping system, some people do not look at chat or minimap most of the time.
-
Allows players to be on the same page in respect to playstyle, engages, towerdives, etc...

People realize there is a person behind the computer. This may seem like an idiotic thing to say, but it isn't. Most of the time people get mad (myself included) over a player's ineptitude in certain respects. This has caused me to flame them, back in season 5 I even received a 100 game chat restriction because it got so bad. However, I can honestly say I have never said anything mean to people over voice comms. It is easy to forget about what a person may be going through if you're in your promos and they are underperforming. However with the introduction of voice comms, most of these keyboard warriors (myself included) will either just ignore it and play out the game or just try to tell the person to step it up a little, instead of saying very nasty things to them through chat system.

It introduces a completely new aspect to the game. A few months back i tried out to join a semi-serious platinum level team, and honestly, with all people on voice comms trying their best to win the game, it feels like a new game. The shotcalling and decisions, as well as the common goal of all people to win the game makes the game much more intense and fun to play.

Longer games. With both teams having a huge amount of communication potential, games will become longer from the sheer fact that both teams can react in time to the opponent's calls. I've experienced this with my semi-serious team.
Cons
- Toxicity. This seems to be the root source to all people's concerns. While I agree this might become an issue, I think that in this sense, the pros outweigh the cons. You see, I don't think many people who are dedicated to ranked are inherently toxic. There are just emotions running high, and sometimes passion gets the better of most people and things start going south. This is where the line between ranked and normals comes into play. For most people who play ranked, voice comms would be a dream come true, because an adverse affect of it would be higher winrates and more enjoyable games from a competitive aspect. However those who play normals do not see voice comms in this light, and see that the casual players who only play the game once in a while would be toxic. Both views are right in this sense, I believe that ranked will become much more enjoyable while normals may become more toxic, only time will tell.
TL;DR
Normal games may become more toxic while ranked games will become much more enjoyable to the competitive player, however only time can tell what the outcome will be
