Kindred is awesome thematically.

But is the board's literal jokes about power/moblity creep and repetitive design on one champion.

  • Dash with damage on low CD? Check.
  • max hp% damage? Check
  • 3 hit effect? Check
  • 2 passives? Check
  • Older effect on complete steroids, Trynda Ult in this case? Check

However it also has a lot of ''flats'' and limitants, kinda like Bard. At this point how balance it is wll depend on numbers.

Am I the only one noticing how Riot managed to use mechanics that have been in the game forever to make a champion that plays completely differently on a strategic level here? I don't know where you all come from, but where I'm from, we call using old tools to make new tricks good design.

I'll have to ask you to be less vague on this one.

First of all, it's a jungle marksman. Because most of their damage is delayed/sustained, and because they only have 500 attack range, it's unlikely they'll be seen much in lanes. This brings the sort of turret pressure that really only Elise could offer previously.

More majorly, however, is the passive. This champion announces to the world who and what it's interested in. Using this to mind-game opponents and indirectly affect their movements is pretty ridiculous. And yet, once they settle on an actual target, they're only particularly powerful within an 8-second zone. The result is a champion with a very careful game, both strategically and tactically.

I know this wasn't a complete (or necessarily coherent) explanation, but I hope it helped.

watch him be busted and take over top lane anyway.

The dash has a 9 second cooldown, the % damage is not out of the ordinary on a carry type champ, and on top of that it's not true damage so it can be neutralized with armor.

3 hit passives are good for game health for reasons riot has already explained.

And don't get me started on the ult which can screw your own team over as much as it can screw over the enemy's team.

The dash has a 2 second cooldown while under the effect of his/her W. Just saying. Source: Surrender@20

Their W area is not so large or long that it will grant them eternal mobility. most of the time they will likely be using their Q on its 9 second cooldown.

W's cool down is 18 scaling down to 14, and it lasts for 8 seconds. Provided you use Q JUST as you cast W, that's 4 times. That scenario isn't necessarily SUPER likely, though, so it will probably be more like three times. And again, the W is not SUPER large, so it will be very situational.

I don't foresee CDR being a good build on Kindred, but it might be funny lol

BC isn't good on most marksmen, I doubt it will be good on Kindred.

AutoreactiveCD41 votes

Pure theory but if she does end up in the jungle it may work. Shredding the enemy team armor with low CD Q. She has percent health built in which can be good for tankier champs to stay relevant damage wise. The ult is pure utility, another good thing to see on junglers and tanks alike. Maybe it will be niche, but who knows.

Wheatloaf1 votes

A lot of Kindred's damage is tied to extended fights and delayed damage procs, some of which do cost her mana for failing. That, plus 500 attack range, makes them very inefficient at trading, meaning they're probably not going to be good in lanes.

GankLord1 votes

Agreed only on short ranged marksmen such as twitch, quinn and vayne but that is just my opinion.

Dance of Arrows (Q) 30 Mana 9 sec Cooldown Lamb vaults, firing up to 3 arrows at nearby enemies, dealing 60/90/120/150/180 (+.2 total AD) physical damage.

Casting Wolf's Frenzy or vaulting inside of its effect reduces the cooldown of this spell to 2 seconds.

9 x 0.6 = 5.4 Assuming the 2 seconds is reduced by CDR as well, 2 x 0.6 = 1.2

W CD (Max Rank): 14 x 0.6 = 8.4 Congrats, you got 0.4 seconds to kill me.

Hoping to test this once all the kids who have to go to school tomorrow get off PBE.

In URF:

9 x 0.2 = 1.8 Again an assumption with the 2 seconds: 2 x 0.2 = 0.4

W CD (Max Rank): 2.8 Now they overlap.

It really depends on how you build Kindred. As an AD Caster it may work rather well, but as a more DPS type build the dash will interrupt your AA animation resulting in less damage.

From my experience (unless I'm crazy) the Q's Bonus while being in the W Area is locked at 2 seconds regardless of Cooldown Reduction. Also the W is considered "active" while it's up. Meaning the Cooldown starts when the ability ends, not as soon as you cast it.

Xeynid1 votes

You better build Kindred with tank items, because locking yourself into a circle is a good way to get CC'd and bursted to death.

You can't use your Q as an escape unless the enemy team sits at the edge of your circle and lets you go wherever you want.

She/They do have %max HP and an infinite scaling max HP passive, so they may work if you get enough passive stacks. :P

The 2 seconds wont be reduced by CDR like how Cass's E chain isn't reduced by CDR. Its a flat two seconds.

Yup, tested on PBE. I will say that with only a 20 mana cost on Q you run out really fast when using W as well.

Xeynid1 votes

I can have all the mobility in the world as long as I don't use it to go anywhere.

Kitten of Evil2 votes

I believe Kindred's preferred pronoun is "they."

A Miss Fortune7 votes

Even if they're balance, I don't like the fact It's just a cookie cutter champion design. I might even main Kindred because I love their personality so much, but the creativity of their kit just doesn't exist.

Am I playing Ekko or am I playing Vayne, I forgot? Wait what do you mean I'm playing Kindred, is that Bard's nickname?

Bârd6 votes

They are keeping her balanced with her stats. She has very low durabilty, 500 attack range, and 325 movement speed.

Remlap12235 votes

I gotta say, I'm not really excited for this new champ(s). I dunno, just seems so cookie cutter. They're a ranged Ekko that's AD to me.

SeductiveGrandpa1 votes

Well, except she/he cant R and get a penta-kill because "TURN BACK TIM TO FIX MISTAKES I MADE IN THE PAST"

How do you turn back Tim?

SeductiveGrandpa1 votes

Ekko "Tim. Turn back man." "Ah okay."

Still dont get why people are downvoting a joke but okay..

MrWasjig3 votes

Sure their kit is cookie cutter (Holy shit am I bored of 3 hits and something happens) but you can't deny that thematically, Kindred is gorgeously unique with plenty of charm. I do agree however that until we see more of it the kit seems a little "standard".

Infinite scaling dooon't forget infinite scaling

We have only 4 other champs who have infinite scaling. Viegar, Bard, Nasus and Sion. It's not that common, bruh.

Infinite MR too with the defensive mastery that grants you a small percentage of your armor as MR if it's higher than your MR

agbudar2 votes

Bard has technically infinite scaling too. fun part is that is scales best with movement speed

i like pie mmm3 votes

actually this is false as it's not truly infinite. The amount of gain is tied into the time required to complete the action and the time it takes to complete the game or in the case on a coordinated effort the length of time the game can be sustained before fatigue or servers reset.

Side note: The value for the extra ap/meeps/q damage/etc also has a data object associated with it and I would put money down that it's not dynamic. In lamens terms you can make it large enough to cycle around back to 0/max/negative integers.

MrWasjig1 votes

I agree that Kindred has fantastic thematic and aesthetic, along with being a hugely unique character. We'll have to see how their kit works though before making any proper judgments. First impressions though, seems a little "Standard"

CasterGilgamesh1 votes

op you do understand it's not % true damage right? its % physical damage you act like this new champion is going to be the jungle version of vayne or something dashes would only make sense on this champ since they are a hunter the ult you could say is close to tryndameres ult but its aoe and works for everyone so i think its much more fair and has much more counterplay to it overall i dont understand your problem in any sense of the word
