Farewell top lane shen

I haven't tried him support or jungle(although a friend of mine told me his jungle clear is nice), but his top is just horrible. And there are 2 HUGE reasons why.

1. farming can only be done via right clicking and the only help you get is additional damage from q. No more good old vorpal blade on low cd, no new shiny aoe, not even aa reset...nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if the only reason sunfire is getting buffed for wave clear is cause of Shen.
2. you can only go all in. There's simply no way to make short trades of going in dropping a combo and going out like most of the other top laners can. Even before rework you could always go for Q+empowered aa and back out. Now your only burst damage is your E and to make the most of your Q you need to hit enemy champion with this blade that you can only drag to yourself and do 3 aa's...which is not a very short trade.

...and, obviously, taking his sustain away on top of it all didn't help...and making his damage sources be of different types(e is physical q is magical).

Possible solutions:

1. Let the vorpal blade deal some flat damage at the very least to minions it slides through
2. give other means to position his blade. For example, change his w so it moves the blade to your mouse position before turning evades on.
3. I mean his Q just feels terrible it's hard to see if you even hit anyone with it in big teamfights. And, even if you did, you kind of expect the huge blade to deal some flat damage or any other more meaningful and satisfying reward.
