Tired of Riot shoehorning mages into support

Seems to be a trend of people taking mages support rather than mid and Riot just going "Eh, fuck it" and then balancing them as support. Morgana and Zyra come to mind. Designed as mid laners but have been forced into support for YEARS. The first few years I played this game I really enjoyed playing Zyra mid but she just isn't as good there as she is support. The PBE buffs (Stacking slow on vine lashers) just serves to push her even harder into the support role. And of course Morgana is only ever seen mid once in a blue moon.

There are other supports that typically see more play in support than the mid role they were intended to be in. Vel'Koz, Veigar, Lux, etc.

I don't know, just frustrating that one of my favorite champs can really only be played support now
