About the next patch

My friends in the gold tier are saying 'healer' supports aren't going to be viable anymore. Most appropriate picks for support would be mages like Zyra, Vel, Veigar and Annie. Is that correct?

I'm familiar with their upcoming reworks, but will they be viable as supports so that they shut out traditional supports like Janna, Soraka etc?

If so, I may stay away from ranked to practice the new guys in normal games. Does being away from ranked cause your rating/elo/mmr to decline? If so how soon does the decline kick in, and how fast does it drop?

Thanks for your answers.

This is most likely because grievous wounds is being reverted back to reducing ALL, rather than self, healing by 40%.

about time 2 i say but yes in short it will hurt them a lot(healers) wont make them unplayable but i suspect we will not see nearly as much of them. and yes ur rank will decay after some time but i dont think its a short period i took a month off after doing promos and didnt decay but i do know that you will at some time period

It depends on how much people adapt to the changes on the ADC side.

The Soraka nerfs are significant (which is fine - she's overpowered on live), but the side effect is that they're going to push Soraka back into a very defensive "farm with coin" playstyle. The grievous wounds changes, on the other hand, will essentially neuter her as a bot lane support if ADCs start taking Executioner's Calling as an early item.

But if ADCs still refuse to buy it as an early purchase ("MUST GET IE FIRST"), then she'll drop some but still be effective until midgame when people start building it.
