Jhin will never be truly good as long as his reload speed is 2.5 seconds long.

Seriously Morganas Q at max rank is only .5 seconds longer than Jhins reload speed and its one of the longers duration roots in the game.

Its that fucking long.

I could understand 1.5 or 1.8 seconds but 2.5 and he can't reduce it any way shape or form? In the time it takes Jhin to reload another ADC could easily put out over or close to 1k damage and then continue to put that out.

2.5 is just fine - get used to it. Learn that every single shot counts and kite while reloading.

Jhins problems can be found else where. His Passive is just not good enough to close the DPS Gap between him an other Mid-Game ADCs. Same problem with his Ability Scalings. He has surprisingly strong early (considering his range) and is a great Late-Game Champion. But Mid-Game.. you're a burden for alot of comps if not fed as hell.

To be clear, he should not be able to fight things like Lucian in Mid-Game, that would be riddiculous. Another problem of Jhin is his Passive balance in terms of scalings. Jhin AD Build is made out of 6 AD/Crit Items. AS Items are (while being chearper) just less atractive in terms of DMG. It's not that bad.. but I always feel like giving up alot of power when buying one. (You normaly need at least one for the missing crit and to improove your passive[Speed]).

That 2.5 second reload time is a big part of why he can't keep up with other adcs in damage.

Its literally almost 2-4 auto attacks worth of damage that he is forced to lose because of it.

Haven't played him, but from what I've seen it's really easy to jump on him when he's reloading. Maybe scale the time reasonably with lvl? like lvl. 1 it's 2.5 seconds, and lvl. 18 it's 1.5? Or it could be no one's found the most optimal build to make it so his auto's warrant the reload speed.

The only build i could even think of would be to just stack as much pure AD and penetration as possible because thats really all he has going for him is how much damage his shots do. But even then why pick Jhin when you can pick another ADC who can do the same thing without a 2.5 second delay and will probably have far more damage with the same exact build as Jhin.

I wouldn't say the same thing, but as far as DPS goes Jhin's not the best choice. From what I can gather, even though he can up his AD by buying AS items, it's so miniscule that you'd be better off buying raw AD and any crit that comes with it. They can solve his passive in a number of ways, from giving his AA's more range so it's not as punishing for him while reloading, reducing reload time, or just increase the scalings on his passive so AS items are more attractive and he can get more AD.

As far as ability scalings go it's fairly low to offset the amount of AD he SHOULD be getting, so I don't see those changing much if his passive gets tuned correctly. I guess he's League's first ever AD mage, seeing as how he's a lot safer as one.

Jhin is already good though. If you reduce the reload speed, he'd take a huge drop in power elsewhere. Its supposed to be near-debilitating. His autos are more like spells than your conventional ADC, and that's how its supposed to be.

The stats tell a completely different story.

Hes doing below average in his games and sits at a 47 percent win rate and also has some of the lowest damage per game of all the Adcs. Not only that but his kill to death ratio getting closer and closer to a 1.0 which is not good. Overall hes not doing well in games at all.

I hate Graves' a lot more than Jhin's. Reason being, it has 4 autos between reloads instead of 2. Graves passive just makes me want to smash my head against the keyboard because I can never attack anything. Jhin's feels smooth and intentional.

HandheldBrandon2 votes

Graves is alot better because he can decrease his reload time as well as instantly reload with his E.

Graves autos are also AoE, knockback minions and monsters, and do shit tons of damage if you get up close.

Meanwhile only Jhin's 4th attack is enhanced, and even then thanks to it they made it so Jhin's crits do reduced damage.

What is stopping you from using his Q, W, and/or E while he is reloading?

HandheldBrandon1 votes

All 3 of them shove the wave so even if i want to freeze it i can't because using any of those will shove the lane regardless of the intent unless you go way out of your way to make sure your W hits nothing but the one target. On top of that during the reload speed his lead in a bot lane duel can be completely turned round regardless of his other abilities and it can quickly become unfavorable.

It should go down as he levels up, keeping him a late game carry and leaving his laning bully untouched

HandheldBrandon2 votes

See thats not a bad idea at all and it doesn't really give him any super extra power just adds to his power later one when he should actually have it.

It is kind of ridiculous. You lose quite a bit of CS early because of it. I don't see why Graves reload speed is 1.5 but Jhins is 2.5.

Divewing1 votes

This is why I play him mid. I don't deny its hard to stay alive, and assassins aren't fun, but it's sooooo much easier to do something, and you are there more for your abilities than attacks, so the reload becomes a bit of a moot point.

Provengreil1 votes

Yeah, I read him immediately as a true AD midlaner when I saw his full kit. an AD counterpart to xerath IMO. it not his autos in fights that gets me to this idea, but what his reload does, or more accurately doesn't do, to towers. you NEED the constant damage to objectives in any siege that has any kind of defense.

HandheldBrandon1 votes

You know everytime i play him i kinda feel the same way but i worry too much that burst mages and assassins would just ruin my day should they play aggressive.

Idea

Let it scale with CDR

Putting it at 1.5 at 40% CDR

The Bearded Bard1 votes

He's got spells to use while reloading.

That would make jhin alot more fun in build diversity and improve his only issues without breaking him.
