Why recommend Relic shield on Thresh when Thresh can't execute minions?

Because he likes the tanky route and his E helps him last hit. That being said it is a toss up. Personally I prefer running a utility thresh build around CDR and stuff like redemption and locket so a team speedboost is what I prefer anyways.

I personally think that when you are in melee range of a minion and thresh just melees it ( not a ranged melee) it should count as an execute. I don't think this would give him an advantage or anything but just help make it less annoying when you cause your laner to miss farm because you cant kill a minion with 50 hp

I only upvoted this because of your username lmao

So all ranged characters can use melee specific items as long as they're attacking at melee range?

"That would be the same for melee characters too, as long as they can attack from range they can also use ranged items!"

Thresh, and a few other champions, have melee specific auto attack animations tho.

That's just animation, eye candies. If ranged champs are just gonna be universal range, then what's the point of range-divided items and range-balance?

As I was saying, so that means melee should have access to ranged weapons? Though too bad they don't have the range to begin with lololol. But I guess ranged characters can have melee items and melee specific perks yeah?

Unless a character can switch between range-class, there is 0 sense in giving a champ both ranges just because they may have a melee AA animation while being ranged, or just because god forbid Thresh doesn't have everything in his kit. It's either Thresh lose his range, or he gets no melee execute. Nothing too hard to comprehend. Don't hand out "exceptions" readily and like hot cakes, it doesn't work like that. No.

yah but thresh has a specific melee attack and a specific ranged attack. Im not expanding it out im just saying for relic shield thresh should count as an execute on a minion! i dont see a big problem with this.

There is big problem called game balance.

You are not meant to do more than you kit is meant to, period.

Thresh has dedicated melee and ranged attack animation means nothing, it's just an eye candy. If he's defined to be a ranged character, not a range-switching champ, he is balanced as a ranged champ, and therefore receiving melee specific benefits makes him break the balance.

And as what's been already said again and again, Thresh already has a stupid kit that has everything, and he already has extra damage from E that helps him last hit already. So why the hell would he a ranged champ, need the execute effect specific for melee champs again, when he already has an easier time last hitting than other ranged supports for no reason because his designer is a silly goon who wants his creation to be nothing but "absolute best"? But I digress.

So either Thresh loses his range, or that he gets no melee specific feature. It's really that simple. Or what, fk game balance?

Well... he does get extra damage from E so it isn't like he doesn't have an easier time killing minions.

Coin sucks.

If you can get the kills, Relic is alright.

I mean I wouldn't build anything else since Coin and Spellthief don't fit thresh's standard build paths, but it's annoying that Thresh has a harder time just because he's "technically" ranged

well tbh the mana coins and the armor from finishing the coin line goes well with his kit

He gets wind up damage on his E, That acts as a pseudo execute.

I Love Thresh1 votes

Because of his "tankyness", although it is true the execution passive doesn't work really well with him. Practicing last-hitting in practice mode or w/e else is good, because ultimately getting cs with thresh is not hard unless your adc meddles

If you max E first, your charged attack works pretty well for executing minions.

it is recommended on thresh for the fact that he is consider front line type of champ... while not having scaling armor per lvl and the lowest base armor in the game at 16 (due to the passive of collection souls giving him armor) having relic shield a way to give him bonus HP to start the game, hp regen, and when he does last hit a minion he can still proc the gold share and hp healing to his adc is why its recommended.

this is why most guides has thresh running ad reds as a support in order to make it easier to last hit
