If you can't finish a game, don't play one

I'm sick and tired of getting into games where at ten minutes someone says "I gotta go soon." Why the hell did you play? Seriously league isn't and never should be a game where you can just shoot through matches like confetti. If you know for a fact that you would not be able to finish a game, no matter how long you think it would take, don't join a match. I don't care if it's ranked, norms, twisted treeline, or URF, you are ruining the game for everyone on your team.

It's ridiculous when someone says "Guys can you hurry up and end my bed time is in eight minutes and my mom is mad" and we're literally six minutes into the game. I get it if something unexpected came up, but if you have a scheduled time for when you have to leave, and you don't have at least 40 mins, don't hop into the game.

This is true, but it's also unavoidable sometimes. Unexpected things can happen, which are more important than a League game. A week ago I just got in a game when my father called and asked me to come tow his tractor out of the snowy ditch. I was annoyed by this but I chose the IRL thing over League game, and moved on. I couldn't read the future, thus this happened.

I can only partway agree with this post. You shouldn't be queing up if you plan to afk or only have 10-15 minutes to play. But outside of that I think the player base needs to chill out. People are far too invested in this game and it's unhealthy. I had to afk for a minute after we WON a teamfight to use the restroom and even this horrible forum agreed I should have possibly urinated on myself or suffered a ruptured bladder (medical reasons) to ensure we won the game. No joke the expectation for people to put this video game, a free to play video game with absolutely no bearing on your actual life, above your family/friends/personal life is actually sickening. If I want to play a game and find myself having a real life obligation I am going to walk away from my computer. Downvote away, League of Legends will NEVER be more important to me than my actual life. If you don't feel the same it's likely because you don't have a life outside of league.

and don't force your team to surrender because you have to go. if you really have to go just leave and eat any penalties later. otherwise what you have to do can wait.

Did you mean to write "if you don't know for a fact that you would be able to finish a game, no matter how long you think it would take..."?

On this, I wish two things existed. A) Better leaver buster penalties, where the time spent is 10 minutes before each match. Mostly because continued afks should be penalized. B) I wish the system knew when an afk was due to loss of connection, and when it was due to the actual leaving of the match. For instance, I know irl stuff occurs and I would take a leaver buster for this, but when you sit fountain for 15 minutes from minute 30 on it can only be described as griefing. The team loses the 4v5 and four people just wasted 50 minutes of their life they won't get back.

Cases like that should present a good case for why a better leaver buster system that identifies appropriate disconnects and issues harsher penalties could solve many issues.
