Items That Actually Need Reworks

Frosted Tips··39 votes·13,692 views

item 3124 - Legitamentally breaks many champions and makes all on-hit items worse because they have to be balanced around the double on-hit passive. item 3147 - It just causes way more issues then it attempted to fix. I think the Blackout passive should be kept, but the Nightstalker needs a rework or removal. item 3091 - This item is not good at what it is supposed to do. It is used for its on-hit and not the MR shred. Focus on the MR shred and replace or remove the on-hit. Needs to be an AP fighter item so give it cooldown and less or no attack speed and make the MR shred less dependent on basic attatcks. item 3095 - No one wants this item. It is counter intuitive to you wanting to reduce upfront damage. item 3056 - Make it purchasable for once in its life.

Edit: To everyone talking about item 3091 me and Moody P talked about it in his post that it would be interesting if they made Wit's End and phage item and then split the magic resist shred into a new item.

item 3124 Honestly, just give up on the double on-hit. No iteration of this passive has been healthy, and they've tried how many times? stupid phantom on-hit gets 4 reworks desperatly trying to make it work, but tower buffs literally take 4 years.

Frosted Tips3 votes

That is what I meant sorry I wasn't clear. I was saying that is the reason it needs a rework because it breaks the game.

nobody needs item 3056 because towers are useless anyways

item 3147 item 3124 item 3095 item 3030 item 3512 item 3056 item 3031 These are items that either need to be reworked or removed from the game and to make that clear I don't mean every item listed needs to be removed but some such as Zz'rot portal because it's either too weak or too strong like when it came out and took nearly 6 months to actually touch it with a nerf when it was picked up every game by 4 people on 1 team. Infinity Edge needs to be changed and remove this cancer true damage because honestly true damage in general needs to be removed from the game completely and never made an actual stat since it provides less counter play for things like item builds and for certain things like using a damage reduction ability which true damage ignores. Duskblade just speaks for itself honestly but if you really need it to be explained it has too much value in 1 item for an assassin giving vision clear and high proc damage and seeing as every few patches it needs to be touched just tells you right away the item is too much of a balance issue since you can compare building either Duskblade or Ghostblade first or even Blackcleaver and instantly notice Duskblade does about double damage due to it's damage proc. Not gonna go on about the other items because I'm sure you guys already know.

I disagree with true damage and IE suggestions because true damage offers a way to kill tanks without increase damage against squishy champions. I think the IE crit changes with the true damage vs. The bonus crit damage were good. The rest can be argued to not be the best changes though.

The Yetii Rider1 votes

How can Infinity Edge help marksmen kill tanks properly without killing squishies too easily if it doesn't have true damage? % health damage? That will be better against squishies than tanks because it will be reduced by armor, which squishies don't get, unless it's also true damage. And we have BoRK, which doesn't kill tanks enough. Infinity Edge is necessary for tanks to be tanky.

Duskblade is good because assassins are supposed to be powerful when they get their one item spike. The mid game is their high point. Not every class has scaling, and assassins have the least of it.

Wit's is a pretty iconic on hit item, would rather see a separate item for AP fighters.

Kairoptra3 votes

Also item 3030, don’t forget item 3030

Frosted Tips1 votes

Oh yeah forgot that item existed tbh

Destello Azul2 votes

Imo item 3091 is fine, no changes need it. The others, completely umbalanced, or too good, or too bad.

Frosted Tips3 votes

Why don't you think item 3091 needs rebalance? It is causing a large group of champions to not get an item that's magic reset shred passive would benefit a ton while champions who don't need that like Kayle Varus and I don't think anyone else builds it because it is way too niche, use it.

LilxPaprika1 votes

I wouldn't mind item 3091 as it is if we still had Ionic Spark to fall back on. but it's been a long time since that item's been removed.

on another note I think it would be cool if Ornn's passive worked with item 3091 as well.

LynXerf2 votes

item 3091 Is not far from a noobtrap item apart from a couple of select cases.

It is almost like the old Rageblade - while it seems it could be good from reading the item, in reality it just doesn't fit a niche. It falls off pretty heavily late game, but for the champions who'd potentially like it, it doesn't offer enough reliability early game. Honestly I don't think it can be tweaked into something useful, it needs a full rethink and rework because it's main failing point is that it is based on auto attacks.

You forgot item 3146

Thefrostyviking2 votes

Current item 3508 only has like .....6? Users or something and its kind OP on them.....i want the old one back :(

Frosted Tips1 votes

Yes the old one was better than the current one but it should get reworked again not reverted because it still wasn't that good of an item.

MLDzXnRRR2 votes

item 3026 Why does it have AD? Mages used to be able to buy one. item 3140 Give it AP and tank upgrade Don't allow AS + crit passives (energized or whatever the name was ) to stack for burst dmg. item 3085 - some champs were designed to be single target, not 1 man army... item 3004 - takes forever to stack, it is built by a single champion item 3508 - I've seen only Lucians get it. Very rarely Fiora, Jax, Rene and they feed and lose the game, wow...

Frosted Tips1 votes

Yeah I didn't get them all but I disagree with item 3026 and item 3140 because each damage type gets their own type of survivability and they should be different as a form of trade off.

What? Anyone used to be able to buy GA, it was a 6th item very often. The reason they reworked it is because of LCS tanks were always getting it. Not because they cared about AD itemisation or anything.

Frosted Tips1 votes

GA was bought on everyone delaying the game. Yes tanks were apart of the problem, but it were only tanks abusing it then they could have just added the heal that is either a base heal or a percent heal based on how much health you have.

The Yetii Rider1 votes

Lol. Tanks benefit from Tenacity. They don't need a cleanse.

QSS is good enough on mages without it giving AP. Mages aren't nearly as reliant on multiple item scalings as marksmen.

Guardian Angel is an AD item. Mages shouldn't have multiple stasis options, they get the most out of having a few extra seconds to get their cooldowns back.

Nyarlathοtep

Are you fking kidding me? A mage to sacrifice an item slot for an item that he doesnt even contribute to his job? Which is to deal dmg. Are you out of your mind? Even pro's dont do that apart once when malz was literally an r bot.

The Yetii Rider1 votes

Uh, yes. Both QSS and Guardian Angel, in their current forms, contribute to a mage's primary role of dealing damage. Staying alive allows you to deal more damage. A lot of mages don't even have that many good ratios anyway. Their base damage is already high enough, and more often than not, you will find getting an extra rotation in a la GA or not being CC'd to death is going to give you more damage than a Deathcap that didn't help at all when you got blown up.

Nyarlathοtep

No no and no. Thats pure and utter bullshit Despite you calling it worth and whatnot, its not. I went into the trouble and checked both opgg and lolalytics some mages + kata, fizz,lb and akali. Results? Mages never buy qss or ga. And apart ap assassins, only kata and akali bought ga/qss (either kata or akali bought qss not both). So yeah BULLSHIT. Try again next time.

The Yetii Rider1 votes

...What? You think just because an item isn't good enough to make it into anyone's 5 item slots, that means it's not good?

The 5 items people build every game are the BEST items. There are plenty of mage and assassin items that are never built just because other items are better.

You don't see GA on Tristana all that often. Does that mean GA needs MORE ad? No it just means the players value crit more than defense.

Nyarlathοtep1 votes

.What? You think just because an item isn't good enough to make it into anyone's 5 item slots, that means it's not good?

Yes? This means that as an concept (to buy an item that give NO STATS THAT YOU CAN MAKE USE OF) is an extremely bad idea. If it was AS GOOD AS YOU MAKE IT TO BE, then somebody in the world would use it consistently enough to be shown in the stats. But its not. So yeah for the last time STOP BULLSHITING.

The Yetii Rider1 votes

Dude, almost every item in the game is never bought. Only a handful actually see any play. That means by your standard there are almost no good items in the game. Items like item 3151 item 3041 item 3174 anditem 3042

Nyarlathοtep

Wait what? If you go to op gg on a champ and then go items tab, you will see all the items they usually buy. In mages YOU DONT SEE QSS OR HOLY GRAIL OR MURAMANA. However you do see mejai's and some mages do buy liandry's.

LilxPaprika1 votes

for sure, this should be top priority, we as a community should temporarily put our other complaints on the backburner and band around this cause and upvote this post. I bet it will address a lot of complaints we have about champions in general too who are abusing some of these items or denied options because item 3091 item 3056 just are too situational to be worth while.

Frosted Tips4 votes

If item 3091 gets reworked into something actually designed for AP fighters that class could maybe see the light of day. So I disagree with you saying that is a minor complaint not worth a look.

LilxPaprika1 votes

well that's kind of what im trying to say, that upvoting this thread will seek to address all the conversations that surround these items (be it indirectly too). could have worded better.

Including the complaint that AP fighters and off tanks like Shen Shyvana Malphite Gnar could benefit from changes to item 3091.

You ever build item 3091 on TahmKench? That shit’s hilarious.

AMADEUSdotEXE1 votes

Half of the tank items. The only interesting tank items that really feel like a small power spike/ interesting are item 3194 item 3800 item 3742 item 3022 . The rest just make you tankier. ANd maybe some damage or regen.

LTK KoRo1 votes

Frozen Mallet isn't interesting item by any means

The Yetii Rider1 votes

Tanks need stats. They don't need exciting or interesting passives, their kits are incredibly dynamic. A tank is busy chain CCing people, they don't need to remember to press a button for an active, which is the reason that Gargoyle Stoneplate isn't on your list. It's probably the most interesting and skill expressive tank item in the game and no one uses it because tanks NEED stats.

BLIGHTBRINGER1 votes

I'm fine with removing Guinsoo's Rageblade Double On-Hit effect, but changing Wit's End into an AP item... There's already a very limited choice of On-Hit items that aren't crit items.

If those changes were to go through, there would need to be new items introduced because otherwise you would be destroying what's left of the diversity On-Hit items.

item 3030 Who uses this? Was this item dumpstered just because of glacial augment?

you sir haven't seen the vel'koz players and some other mages taking glp and glacial augment lately. look it up, it's dumb

amen esp to ap fighter items ffs when can we get some proper shit

Rakvir1 votes

item 3110 because it has so little impact even when specifically used in the niche situations it is intended for. Armor value comparable to other tank items, no health, excessive cooldown like a ridiculously large amount of items these days, and an aura that hardly does anything at all.

Keep armor (MAYBE take 10 or 20 off at the maximum), add 150 health, remove cooldown altogether, and strengthen the aura value. Mana...eh, probably leave that alone? Depends how much aura is buffed, I guess.

Solicitude1 votes

I think rito has completely forgotten of item 3056 . Its been years since i last saw it used and actually having an impact. The stats it gives are good, not great but good, if it had a useful active it would be a very good item. Right now it just doesnt provide anything. There are items that give more armor and more health. But if it had a good active it would be bought. Right now, by the time you get to use its active, a tank can just stand under turret forever without care whatsoever and a fighter can also take some punishment from the turret as well. And they are the only classes that can actually make any use of its stats.

As for other items like item 3508 item 3022 item 3124 item 3146 etc that are in a weird state. They are either useless or great depending on the champion that buys them and there are only a handful of champions that can make use of them. I would want rito to change those items so they would be an option for more champions other than 4-5.
