Towers Don't Respawn

I've played League for a good two years. One of the biggest things that I look forward to is the start of a new season because it gives me a clean slate (yes yes, i know the elo doesn't reset, but you understand what I mean). I was Silver IV last season and I was hoping to place there again. Nope. I lost all but 1 of my placement matches and ended up in Bronze. A frustrating 9 matches with toxicity and rage. So, many of you reading this are probably wondering, "well, you're clearly salty, but what does your post title have to do with anything?" Well, I want to talk about was why those games got lost and how that applies to the lower elos.

What's the biggest reason a person loses a match? It is not because the early game gets lost. It isn't because a lane gets lost or a champ gets fed. Heck, it isn't even because a player has itemized wrong. It's objectives. Players, after winning a late game team fight, are more likely to try to go and take baron/dragon rather then push the lane and get an inhibitor. They get so caught up with the idea that if they DON 'T take this admittedly important kill they will lose. Well the problem is is that after a team fight, everyone still up is low. Going to do baron makes us lower. And by the time we actually kill baron, the enemy team is up and have actually come to baron themselves to contest (one of the worst examples was actually a Jinx ulti finished off not only my teammates but baron as well. That's how low they attempted baron at.)

The biggest issue is probably that this behavior gets repeated, another teamfight, another chance to get some map objective, rather then push. Players in lower elos don't seem to understand just how strong super minions are and how they essentially force one enemy player, presumably someone with decent damage, to stay in base clearing the wave. Teamfights get turned into 4v5's. What's worse is that if we manage to take the buff, we don't act on it. It's not like the thought "oh we took baron, lets go push now" happens. It's "we took baron, lets go by ourselves and farm." I begged my teammates to push middle, to do a team fight while we had a buff. Instead, i got told that we were fine, that if we fought we'd lose our buffs. Initiators that were in my placement's absolutely refused to go in, even with all 4 of their teammates nearby, simply because they wanted to keep their buff. Quite frankly, you SHOULD lose it in a teamfight that can potentially swing us to victory rather then let it expire farming.

This is where my post title comes in. Towers don't respawn. At the end of the day, ranked or casuals, taking a tower gives you a tangible benefit in the form of map control and vision. The best part? The enemy can't wait for their tower to come back, because it isn't. And that doesn't just apply to the enemy it applies to you as well. You can't always just say, oh let them take it, "its ok, as long as they don't push more". No, its not ok to let the inhib tower die, because we don't get it back. Objectives lie baron and dragon? Yea they are important, yea they give a buff, but they respawn, they will come back. Those are not your prime objectives. The enemy nexus is. The only way to get to it is through towers.

Before I end my post, I just want to clarify: I'm not amazing. I'm not some pro-plat player who feels he deserves challenger. I'm not some toxic bronze who thinks all his teammates are shit and he the diamond in the rough. I've made mistakes, missed hooks and heals and shields and ultis. But I'm not bad. I know the mechanics of the game, I know how to do my main role (support) well and I enjoy that role. I do not want to play top or mid or jungle or adc because I've tried those role with varying success and quite frankly they aren't fun to me nor would they allow me to have players listen more. I don't want to get kills, I want to get kills for my teammates because, knowing I set up a kill for my teammates honestly makes me feel amazing. At the end of the day, I just want to get to gold to be able to play with my friends. Nothing hurts more then having your friends tell you they don't want to play ranked with you because your ranking is just too dam low and simply resolve to play ARAM, which we just do not enjoy.

So to all those Bronze/low elo players, remember: Towers don't respawn.

Thank you to any one who stuck to reading my long post.
