Why do new players get put in silver / gold mmr when they start ranked?

It doesnt make sense to m e. Not that ranked matters anyway because everyone knows soloq is extremely unbalanced regardless

To see where you are compared to players who are above average in the game and if you are above average,

It would be better if new players in ranked play against other new ranked players longer before being thrown into the middle of ranked play.

Now new players who have no idea how to play the game get destroyed in solo queue, which makes teammates salty and makes new players less likely to continue to play rannked if they don't play well.

Because they get put at the average elo relative to their MMR.

It's kinda ridiculous though, anyone thats a fresh account is bronze level or silver 5 max.

And most fresh ranked players start at B3-S3.

If an unranked player is starting at gold mmr, then they are either a smurf or good enough to qualify for that mmr
