Can we have the option to skip division 5s?

Ask anyone who's climbed ranked, they'll tell you that the worst places to be are Bronze 5, Silver 5, Gold 5, Plat 5, because players who don't understand MMR can just troll for days and not feel punished for it. I frequently end up spending more time in division 5 of every rank than the rest of it, because you have to grind our the 5/4 troll odds much moreso than everywhere else.

My proposed solution is that we go from X 1 to Y 4 without MMR changing; if you excel you'll climb normally, if not you'll quickly drop into Y 5. Maybe only do this if the player has been doing well, not finally climbing out of X after 400 games.

Just for some context, my last 2 games in a division 5 went as follows: the first I was support and the adc was afk. That's fine, it happens. Then the second game, the enemy adc was afk but the adc I was supporting was so glue-eatingly stupid that we surrendered after 20 minutes of listening to him rage like a child. Amusement aside, I had more fun in the first one, which really just adds insult to injury.

Thoughts, comments, horror stories from division 5 games, go!

Edit: The point is that it reduces the amount of people going "well I can't get demoted so I won't bother keeping my emotions in check" because less people go past that imaginary point of X5 OLP. Sure, people who get demoted will still get there, but the majority of them were probably bad in the first place to lose that many games.

You get matched with players of similar MMR, not in a similar League. Argument then crumbles.

I had a completely opposite experience to yours. I finally made it to Gold (IV at peak) last season and felt that I could finally relax. It was a major milestone so I stopped getting so emotionally high-strung during matches. My play improved if anything, along with every stat (CS, KDA, etc.) except winrate--which plummeted. I was matched with the frothing, frustrated trollery you describe and I lost a lot of games because of it. Rather than join them in their rage, I just tried to continue to improve so I could carry games harder. Instead, I got demoted back to silver, something I didn't even know was possible at the time. Yay.

Then Division 4s become the worst and the cycle continues.

Division 4s stay the same because people are afraid of dropping into the division 5. Obviously this is all in their heads, but so is the whole ranked system when MMR is what matters.

In my opinion, a better solution would be to ditch demotion immunity completely so that the difference between silver 2 and silver 1 is the same as the difference between silver 1 and gold 5.

i would support this... as long as you get rid of promo series. Not going to do that stupid best of 5 again just because i had a few bad games

The only way to fix it is to make it easier to get demoted from the division V's. Even if you let some people skip division V, their mmr doesn't skip it so that you'd play just as many players from it as if you hadn't skipped it. Tiers do nothing in how it places you in matches. If you dodged enough you could be a bronze playing against challengers lol.
