I think I just Figured out Why Mages Feel Neglected

It's because more often than not they have to choose between staying alive OR doing damage.

Since many more recent champs have high mobility they can build glass cannon while keeping themselves alive.

Mages on the other hand are mostly immobile. If they don't want to be destroyed in seconds they have to sacrifice their damage for life.

I was playing as Vlad in a match a few minutes ago. It was a bad loss, but I noticed that I was barely hurting Rengar when i used my Q on him.

Someone on my team made the comment "you have no damage, look at your build" It was true, I only had 200 AP I had built several tanky items to deal with the enemy burst.

I don't see this as a bad thing necessarily. As long as it's evenly spread out among all the champions.

Yeah, and with so many recent ones having built in safety (yasou, ekko, kindred, ext), conventional mages like syndra, swain & velkoz get no chance to retaliate let alone do damage :/

Sadly it gets harder to balance as more and more champions are added.

I think your point is valid. however vlad gets tankier off of his ap... and he has insane sustain. if you're having a hard time dealing with burst, look at what decisions your making with your mechanics that might be putting you at unsafe places. are you using pool too agressively? pool doesn't do any damage really, it should mostly be used for safety and not for agression. in team fights, are you diving to pick off someone? if you stay behind your dedicated tank, you can do a lot over the course of the fight, and clean up at the end of it.

Given just how many AP items and champs manage to combine offensive and defensive stats (looking at you, Zhonya's) I think you're on the wrong tack.

Vlad is teh worst example of a mage who has problems surviving though. He deals incredibly sustained damage, has the 3rd highest combat sustain in the game (next to Akali and Mundo) and is extremely tanky.

Ap damage was always high but always unreliable. For this, their powe tends to spike early and they also have utility.

Ad champion scaled better but we're suppose to be easy to kill. Their damage wa always more reliable and they had life steal.

These changes just hep three scale goods, have even more reliable damage, they already have support to help them survive and now they get more items to survive. Ap gets nerfed though

That's he problem
