Its evident that Riot really wants to make some changes for Ahri
And the latest one looks like a Frankenstein amalgamation of everything that has ever been in her kit at any point of time.
I think we need to re-vist exactly what the rework was for in the first place,
she didn't feel influential enough to carry games. In other words, she wasn't able to play from ahead as well as other champions when they are fed.
Most of the Ahri community (most of the community that I have talked to at least) is asking for a trade-off, Q ms speed removed in return for charm amp damage, to make sure that when she makes a pick, she actually MAKES THE PICK. Based off of this alone, its evident that most Ahri players are looking for more damage, not more utility. The latest rework looks like its trying to tie in way too much utility in an effort to make her conditionally better if she meets all of these different circumstances. Trying to retain the ms buff through hitting abilities for example, this feels forced in a way that makes it seem like riot are tyring to shorthand Ahri players from what they really want. Less safety, more damage.
Most of us don't really want power in her kit allocated to ms buffs and sustain. We would rather be able to actually do damage when we are fed, as opposed to many other champions who don't need to be fed to do damage. Reducing charm damage in return for the amp, without changing any other ratios, and lowering the damage of ult, in return for the ms passive is not what we are looking for. Whats the point of giving us the amp if you are lowering damage to compensate for it? A lot of us were satisfied with the first change where she got higher ratios on her ult and W (and a delay), amp on charm and removed ms on Q. I understand that this may not be the flashiest thing, but it was in the right direction. The only other way I could see a successful rework is by changing the W entirely to something that keeps the theme of a fiery fox. Perhaps maybe a close range skillshot that increases by a flat amount of damage when hitting a charmed opponent or something? Like how cassio E works against poisoned and non-poisoned targets?
Regardless of what the outcome is, these basic principles need to be retained
- MS on Q
- Amp on E
- damage
- Safety
Oh, one last thing. If ahri is to be reliant on charm to kill people, then I would like one small change that would help her out a bit. Let her charm while ulting. I don't know about anyone else, but I feel as if I don't charm flash, I can't reliably land something so telegraphed and slow as an ult charm. If she could charm while ulting (keeping the mini channel of course), she could pull of a lot more intriguing plays, as well as feel smoother overall. You may be wondering, why I would rather blow a 6 minute cd for flash instead of a 110 second ult, well, charm flash is 100x more reliable than ult charm. The only circumstance where ulting then charming is optimal is when you are ulting on top of someone.
