Why do Caitlyn and Nidalee traps have a sizable range?

what do they do, throw them? to me, it seems kind of dumb that their traps have a long range, I feel like they shouldn't be more than ~250.

also, as a side note, why did cait need that buff to her passive? it was already strong, now it ignores half my bonus armor? she was already strong, I think the buff was rather excessive.

Caitlyn's passive got buffed because she was otherwise next-to-worthless against tanks. Even if you had Last Whisper, a heavily-armored opponent would just ignore Caitlyn's shots.

is that not the case with pretty much every other adc?

most other adcs still have an easier times with tanks then caitlyn tbh

Well her passive was literally "Headshot". I think it would make sense for it to ignore the armor you were wearing.

this game isn't based on what's realistic, and they certainly don't balance around it. if they did, Caitlyn would be 1 shotting everybody already.

You're saying this in a thread where you're saying Nidalee and Caitlyn should have short trap range because it's unrealistic for them to throw them.

I don't think you understand the current meta of ADCs. The strong adcs right now are kallista, jinx, and sivir(pre-nerf). Any adcs below them have a decent mid game dmg. For caitlyn, shes an adc heavily reliant on autoattacks and items to deal any dmg. This buff makes her a more prominent adc in the meta. Whether shes going to be OP or not will depend on her performance in games 2-3 weeks after this patch releases.

Also, the traps have large ranges for obvious purposes: they give vision in bushes and areas with fog of war to act as a defensive tool. They have an arm time MEANING that cait/nidalee won't be able to throw their trap underneath the enemy and proc it right away so the enemy can easily react to this. These traps do not have much of an impact on the rest of the game as other things like objectives, decision-making, and rotations. Your post is silly and pointless.

Your post is silly and pointless.

that part was entirely unnecessary and pretty douchey

The main reason is so they don't have to face check the bush.

the real question is... why did nids traps get nerf the way they did... when riot could have lowered the 150 damage cap on monsters to 50? (yes it was already capped at 150 vs monsters)

honestly though.. if you die because you stepped on a trap.. i feel no pity for you. especially if it was a nid trap... nids traps are so weak in the current form they only thing they CAN be used for is face checking bushes
