The unbalanced matchups you can get in Dynamic Queue, especially for ranked, is ridiculous. Let's just pretend there is no noticeable skill gap between any of these tiers.

*edit I was wrong about Diamond 1 vs Plat 5...they can't queue together. Plat 3 players can queue with Diamomd players.

This is not new to DQ. This is exactly how it was previously. I looked up the ranks of people in a few of my games last season and was constantly going "WTF?!" so I just stopped looking. In part it's to ensure decent queue times. In part it's because rank isn't MMR, and yes rank is mostly stupid and useless and that's nothing new either.

I don't even know why I look at ranks before games anymore. Just a dumb habit I got into. I played a game last night where I thought the current ranks in my ranked game made no sense.

My team: Gold 5, 4 silver 2.

Enemy team: gold 2, 2 gold 4, silver 1, silver 3. (I know I know they got the silver 3 with 100 lp obviously was a noob might as well been bronze 5...)

Like... in the end its low elo and it shouldn't really matter and even though we ended up pretty far behind we made a good comeback and should have won the game. However, it just makes you wonder why there are ranks in the first place if that is the rank distribution the game came up with. Wouldn't it been better to split up some of the silver 2 players and other gold players? I know per-mades had to be involved but I just saw it and had to laugh because it made no sense to me.

haha right! Being gold 5 I know I am far from great, but sometimes I dynamic queue with my friends who are stuck in silver 4 & 5 on another account and I have a hell of a time winning. Like I can get through that part of silver playing alone very easy. But when I play with them and we are against other pre-mades and it just seems most of the games the enemy team is always more organized and we lose a lot lol. Then they always like "damn man you must have got boosted to gold you suck". But like.... I can win probably 60% of my games in silver 4-5 range alone, been when pre-mades get involved it apparently gets harder lol.

Could just be that their MMR is bad. In s5, if you have low MMR, you can get matched with b3 players.

the reason they have brackets is because people were bitches in the early stages of league. people legit were embarassed of their elo/mmr and afraid to lose their MMR/ELO so they just made it a hidden stat and introduced this new wonky system. the old system was much better. the same one dota uses now.

It can be only on bottom of tiers. Like plat 5 matched with gold 4, because you'll fall out of your tier if you'll drop your MMR to 5th division of previous tier. And this means plat 1 can't have same MMR as gold.

What about the opposite? A huge difference between the marksman's skill level and the support's skill level could also be extremely un-fun.

It's all about MMR and the need to make up for premades. You can have a lower ranked player that has high MMR that's also playing with a premade, increasing the MMR of his opponents if they do not happen to be a premade or have as large a size of one.

For example, I was part of a five-man team. We had a Silver III, Silver II, Gold V, Gold IV, and a Gold II. We were up against a Gold V, Platinum IV, Gold III, Platinum IV, and Gold V.

We crushed them because of our teamwork and our amazing bot lane. Both Silver players had high MMR for their tiers as well.

Yeah, what a great system. Your mmr is close to Gold 5 level but you were premade with a bronze player that game.

Dynamic Queue is inherently flawed beyond what Solo Queue ever was. A silver 3 player should never play with a bronze 5 player in Ranked. Ever. You're trying to make the enemy team sound better than they actually were and the same with your team. Your bot lane had no challenge.

In Solo Queue it was common to play against and with others of similar rank, at least within 2 divisions of each other. But Silver 3 against Bronze 5? Give me a fucken break. That's a joke and shows the ranked system is a joke whether you climb solo or not.

The game was a decent matchup. I was better than the rest of my team, most of the opposing team was Silver and better than my team. On another day the Silvers could have crushed the Bronze players on my team.

When Solo/Duo queue was around, could players of two different tiers not queue up with one another? Could a Silver III not queue up with a Bronze IV?

Unfortunate matchups such as Bronze V versus Silver III happen in Dynamic queue, but they get balanced out by MMR differences between the other players in the game as well.

This is my biggest problem with dq by far, As someone thats been jumping between low and mid plat for a while i find it very hard to improve because im facing people from different elo's, i won't improve by stomping someone in low gold, and i won't improve by getting stomped by someone in diamnd.

Whenever i see that there are 4 people or more thats more then divisions from me i'll just put on a good movie and do as little as possible ingame.

It seems that the system is 100% just going for fair games and they don't care at all to have a decent balance between all the players.

In reference to your edit, since the pairings are based on the League System and not the MMR system its possible for a diamond to queue with a "plat 3" with tanked MMR of a gold level player.

How about when I was playing my level 27 account and got matched against a gold 3 while I had half my masteries and tier 2 runes (Only half my runes too) that was just as fair i'm sure.

The title simply represents the parameters of matchmaking made possible by Dynamic Queue. A Diamond 1 player can queue with or against a Plat 5 player.
