I don't really get the idea behind promo matchmaking.

Giving a player worse teamates in promos is not proper balance. If you want to make promos harder match me up with enemies that are better than my division. If you give me feeders i won't be able to win.

i have been experiencing this for over a year now and have made a few posts already. Neverthless i cannot accept it as i see it as a completely unfair means to "balance" promo series. it's always a smooth ride to promos but once i get there i get teammates that feed their ass off and somehow cannot listen to advice or planning ahead. And i am not flaming them. I am kindly asking them to maybe push instead of chasing someone for no reason in the jungle. I am in my gold promos now. I have lost 2 in a row. Both of these game i was leading with cs and had a solid laning phase. Both of these games my botlane fed my mid opponent really hard. Doesn't matter if i ping or follow or even ask them to fall back. They just do it.

And after many many promo series getting ruined by complete garbage teammates that cannot even seem think about working as a team i am asking for better opponents instead of bad teamates in promos. If i get a team that isnt as mechanical but is able to actually play the game we can cooperate to try to beat the higher ranked players. If you give me people that go 0/9 they probably won't be able to do too much.

I'd be really grateful if a rioter actually answered this. I really feel the need to understand.

Promo series are a sham anyways to make people have to grind more and disconnect true ELO/MMR from ladder ranking. LOL probably has the worst ladder system I've seen

Well while league's ladder system sucks I think the worst has to be given to CS:GO. MMR is invisible and no one has any idea who or what controls it. You can literally win 8 games in a row, not rank up and then lose ONE GAME and get fucking demoted. There's no LP or anything just the system says "hey man, here's your new rank!" out of nowhere at all. Supposedly you can gain and lose elo points from winning and losing rounds and by getting MVP for most kills in a round, planting a bomb, etc but I've had matches where i got over 10 stars DURING A WIN STREAK and still didn't rank up! It's also possible to get stuck in a rank to the point that it would actually take a pro player to escape it. There are tons of people who played too many games in silver and now cant even get out of it because you can literally get entrenched in a rank so the system wont move you up no matter how many games you win. It's ranked system is honestly fucking abysmal and is so infuriating it makes you not want to play the game sometimes.

I can't agree with you more. The fact that Riot intentionally wants you to lose your promos is so counterproductive. That being said I do like how they give you a free win (or two in tier promos if you've made it back twice) if you lost your series and made it back in. But even then, I still lose a lot of promos. I always think, "sweet I get a free win, I just have to win one of the next two games" and then Riot says fk you and gives you feeders for the next two games. I can't express enough how frustrating promo series are.

Had that same shit happen last night. Free win in series, simple to get 1 win in the next 2 games right?

Nope. http://imgur.com/56SC8yZ Here's an unranked vayne as your ADC

Then http://imgur.com/mVfnQnn Here's an fresh 30 unranked top laner (looks like he finished placements since then to get placed S4) Supposedly red side has higher MMR to offset the map disadvantage too right? Not this time us Red = Unranked, S2, S1 S1 S2. Blue G5 S1 S2 G5 G5.

Fuckin infuriating. Seriously need to get placement people (where their games dont even count) OUT of promo games (where games count the most)

Even getting close to promos gives you poor mates. Like ones that give up because their duo isnt doing well. :l

As gold, I mainly fight high golds and plats. If I hit promos, I'm convinced my teammates are scooped up from a previous chat restricted list or something.

I have to agree with the OP. I'm a support main sitting in P5 and I CANNOT get any wins. 90% of my losses are because the solos decide it's time to feed. What am I supposed to do? I know the game is a coinflip but when I used to main mid, if I played well, I climbed. Simple as that. What is the key to support? Is there some hidden code I have to enter somewhere that tells the game to not give me boosted solos?

All I want is a close game. I don't mind losing close games because then I can feel "Man, if I played just a little bit better, maybe we could have won." But NOPE, it's always a landslide by the other team because we have a 1/8 TF at 20 minutes or a gnar that decides that matching split push is a bad idea, of a Master Feed, or ANYTHING. HOW. HOW DO I WIN WHEN I (generally) PLAY WELL.

Don't worry, in plat and dia the situation is the same

I mean people still complain about being matched against higher people. So if someone in their g5 promos got matched against gold 4s-2s they would still lose their shit.

I don't get the idea behind playing ranked in a pay to win game to begin with.

How is it a pay to win game?

In terms of champion and rune availability, anyone who has played for less than ~4 years to unlock everything is at a disadvantage to someone who has played an equal amount of time and spent money on the game. This absolutely provides an advantage to the person who spent money, especially in draft pick.

Yes but unless your diamond maybe masters or higher the impact is minimal. Where money gets you is rune pages and champions in terms of gameplay Even if you have all champions you aren't going to know how to play all of them debunking the advantage of champs as long as you have the champs you can play you are fine. Behind runes if you are better than your opponents and have an ap and ad page you will be able to win even if they have a more optimal rune page thus debunking the rune page argument

Matchmaking is supposed to match you with people of equal skill. However, runes and access to counter picks have an impact on individual games and the highest ranking you will reach, meaning someone who has spent more money on the game will reach a higher rank than someone who hasn't spent a cent, until that person unlocks almost everything.

Knowing how to counter pick is as much a skill as knowing when to take an objective. Having less access to counter picking means you will reach your highest possible rank more slowly, and will probably reach a lower one overall.

Champions rise and fall in power, so having access to more champions and runes means you are less impacted by nerfs and buffs than someone who owns three champions and spent the rest of their IP on runes for those champions. Again, there is an impact on what that highest possible ranking you get is and how quickly you get it.

Ranked does not allow you to play the role you want 100% of the time (unless you only play in a 5-man premade). Getting autofilled is another situation where access to more champions and runes gives you a clear advantage over someone else who was autofilled and has less options because they haven't spent a cent.

Having more diverse rune options has a direct impact on the game and will almost certainly get you to a higher rank than if you had two generalized pages.

This is especially true when jungling as a suboptimal runepage will often be the difference between being able to gank after your 3rd camp (or dying to it) and having to go back to base.

I finally climbed to Gold today.I did promo twice.First time played all 5 games (3 losses vs 2 wins).First game was nice with great fights and comebacks. The next 4 games i had teammates that had no idea what else to say than "retard".And so i lost the first promo.

In the second trial i got a free win by the system.I played my first actual game vs a currently Platinum V Shen and 4 golds. My team had an unranked and 2 silvers but we steal won cause i snowballed with Jax.Shen and their gold Zhao could not bring me down.

However,in the second game, enemy's JaNNA opened bot at level 5 while blaming and calling names his adc.Their Fiora was good but she got "Jaxbanged".Janna was roaming the whole map doing nothing till they lost the game.

Thus,i also feel that promos are just random.Won't even mention the matchmaking.

You have a grave misunderstanding. The teammates you get for your promo is who you would otherwise get in any other ranked match, what makes the difference is that the moment the very same competent teammates learned that you're on promo they will lose on purpose without making it blatantly obvious.
