Garen was SHOT THROUGH THE HEART (and you're to blame), and he desires Katarina.
Vi was probably shot in the hands (Dunno for her). She is a fighter, through and through. She desires violence.
Seriphym1 votesNowhere in official lore does it state that Garen desires Katarina. It talks alot about how others perceive Garen as having a fondness for her but not from Garen's actual perspective.

When he taunts Garen, he says this
"You live by a code that'll never let you get what you want. Let me take you to her."
He says a similar thing when he taunts a Katarina
"Don't starve your heart, child! Let me deliver you to him."
Seriphym1 votesBut Tahm never names those individuals does he. Kat's father could just as well be who he's talking to Kat about we won't know until RIOT places that story into lore.
The entire "love" affair between Kat and Garen is nothing more than fan assumptions.

Not a single mention about Garen other than he is a rival just like she is to him.
Again its an issue of drawing conclusions based upon the perceptions (or teasing) of "other champs" (just like Blitz's dating service) instead of from the characters themselves.
I can tell the world (and tease you) that you have the hots for my ugly brother all day everyday but that does make it true.

(It also matched Rammus with a cactus... jus sayin.)
Find me an official piece of lore from Kat's or Garen's perspective that states that they are in love "with the other" and I will shut up... till then its just all assumption on the reader's behalf.
