Among BE hullabaloo, are the Mystery Champion Shards efficient?

Recently, there is a message displayed in the client stating that the buyable mystery champion shards in the BE emporium shop will only give shards for champions worth 4800BE or above, while the cost for the mystery shard is only 3950BE. Does this make the mystery champion shard more efficient for buying higher priced champions, or do the issues of upgrade costs for those shards and possible duplicate shards make this just another inefficient waste of BE?

For context, I currently do not own: 16/32 6300BE champs 15/47 4800BE champs

There was a post I saw when someone linked me to reddit that has context. Give me a moment....

Edit: I couldn't find the post about the content increase yet...

But those are not shards in the normal sense, you don't upgrade them. They work like other mystery items and you just get the champion when you buy them.

if you own all the champs like I do they are a great future investment every new champ for 4000 BE

3950 is less than 4800 Although if you perm a champ shard then you effectively buy the champ for 3840 BE, saving 110 BE. Even still, on average you are making more progress per BE spent towards a full collection by purchasing mystery champs as you appear to have about 50/50 odds of getting a 4800 or 6300 champ. Plus it is very optimistic to assume that you would find shards for ALL your remaining 4800 champs.

No it's not efficient,

Because it takes roughly 10 6300 champion shards disenchanted to get the BE to activate 1 6300 shard, i.e. you need 11 to get the BE necessary.

It is technically efficient by 200 or so BE IF you recieve a 6300 champ you don't own AND have the BE to activate. But the entire gain is lost if you receive a single one you already own.

It used to be a lot more efficient when you owned everything but 6300 champs in the last system. Then you could buy 3 mystery champ shards at 1700 ip each for a total of 5100 ip, then reroll into a random champion permanent to save 1200 ip.
