WTF is up with Zyra?

THe new electrocute is perfect for her as she's been lacking a viable keystone. Champions she synergize well with are meta. She's been buffed. So why is she not meta?

She wasn't really buffed. The old electrocute was better. You can barely see an opponent's HP move now.

That being said..... what's up with her is:

-She has legitimate counters who can kill her on arrival and are very efficient at delaying their own deaths, like Riven MonkeyKing MasterYi Kayn , who all generally are popular picks.

-Her skills are delayed. I cannot understate how much delayed skills are countered in current meta standards. A .75 -1 second skill delay can be murder. This is why Nami, Zyra..... generally don't have PHENOMENAL win rates, whereas the rest of their kits are generally solid. Champs like Akali Ahri MasterYi abuse the heck out of delayed skills.

-Anyone with aoe melee or persistent aoe skills makes Zyra's plants negligible. In team fights, they die in mere half seconds.

As long as these three factors are in place, Zyra has a soft cap as to how far she can go up the elo ladder as a meta champ. Good players know how to abuse all of them.

She's a good damage stick in Silver and maybe gold. Past there.... it doesn't matter how good you are... you're going to be skilled out by your delays/plant decays.

People playing her as a Support kinda ruined her IMO, she should have never been considered a support champ. AND SHE IS NOT A BAD MID LANER, ONLY NOOBS SAY THAT

The fact that she doesn't even show up as a mid laner on op.gg just means noone is playing her mid.

I think that Illabethe already said it best, however, I want to add a couple more things about her and the meta.

Assassins in mid lane are very popular at the moment along with high burst AP. Zyra is easy to delete and difficult to escape from enemies so she suffers a lot from dealing with champions like that.

Damage supports are also really popular this year. Frankly I don't care for damage being the go to because I feel like it kind of destroyed the support role... but the important thing about it is that Brand has been everywhere this season.

Brand makes Zyras life miserable. He also deals damage, but a lot more reliably, and if she gets hit by the ult she gets melted and the plants just make it worse. Plus she can't disengage from him because they are both ranged champions and if he gets close enough to land a combo she gets stunned and dies instantly.

Her previous best match ups (mind you I haven't played Zyra in a long time.. so that I recall anyways) were against champions like Alistar where you could punish them for lurking around the minion wave or attempting to dive your carry by hitting them with a bunch of poke damage.

Now that you can take nearly anything bot lane her role of "higher damage support" is taken by several others, but she doesn't heal or shield to add other utility. She may come back into meta some day, but her time has not come yet.

THe supports drafted in competitive don't have strong clear. I mean, WTF can Rakan TahmKench Braum do against her plants?

Ok, sorry, this is a tactic that works only for 2/3 of the examples introduced. The third one is gonna have way worse time against Zyra with his 3 dashes and a 4s 50% MVS bonus, WTF can he do against them?

Walk close to her plants, tom will disarm them. Yes, don't need to do anything, as long as tom is in range of zyra plants, zyra plants won't attack. Easy way to protect your AD. she has a viable keystone and its Aery her plants proc it so often why would you not take it as for why she isnt meta she doesnt do %hp dmg like brand and she cant really save anyone or kill people fast enough unless she is fed

If you choose "all regions" and "all roles" Zyra was in june at a winrate of 52,8% wich was in the top8 winrates. In Platin+ winrate was 52% wich is also far above average.

Until there it was nothing wrong with her and I strongly disagree with the statements of others here because of the obvious good winrate and you see the graph for popularity also there. She was on the rise.Then the bugs began, first the minion aggro on spells then the plant AI.

Actually her winrate droped in EUW from 53% winrate (platin+/july) to 49,8% (now). ./. 3,2% within 8 weeks

It´s the LeagueOfBugs in her case. No more, no less.

You ignored the fact that average zyra player played her 3 times more games than average champion player.

I guess not. If you have a look at the history the popularity and the winrate and the banrate were rising parallel wich is normally a hint that not only specialists are doing well with a champ.
